Audlem film well received

Regular readers will have noted that local film-maker John Owen was off to Weymouth last weekend to The IAC British International Amateur Film Festival.

He tells Audlem Online that there was an excellent turnout and response for the showing of his film: 'Audlem – First Village of the North' which had been selected as a 4-Star film by the Festival's judges.

Last year, John filmed and edited a series of short films for use on the Touchscreen computers at Audlem Mill and Overwater Marina that were installed by the Audlem Webteam. They feature the canal, how to operate a lock and the village of Audlem and star Audlem actor Pete Marshall.

John later re-edited them to create an 11-minute film entitled 'Audlem – First Village of the North."

The film's title reflects the opening shot – by the canal on the border to the south of Audlem where the Midlands end and the North of England starts, making 'Audlem – First Village of the North.' 

Audlem was not the only cause for celebration in Weymouth. Outside, on the beach, this sandcastle was being raised to commemorate that it is just 100 days to the Olympics. Weymouth is, of course, the venue for the Olympic sailing events.
