Audlem film at Festival today

The film 'Audlem – First Village of the North' is being shown at the IAC British International Amateur Film Festival today in Weymouth, Dorset.

It was filmed and edited by local resident John Owen and stars Audlem actor Pete Marshall.

Last year, John Owen filmed and edited a series of short films for use on the Touchscreen computers at Audlem Mill and Overwater Marina that were installed by the Audlem Webteam. They feature the canal, how to operate a lock and the village of Audlem.

John later re-edited them to create an 11-minute film entitled 'Audlem – First Village of the North."

John was delighted to receive a letter saying that the film has been awarded 4 Stars and will be shown at the British Amateur Film Festival in Weymouth today. John is travelling to the Festival and his certificate will be presented immediately after the screening.

The judges' comments must be especially pleasing to Pete Marshall: "What a find the narrator was. He really made the film. Not only did he show us a diagram of how to work a lock, he immediately put it into action and actually did it."

The film's title reflects the opening shot – by the canal on the border to the south of Audlem where the Midlands end and the North of England starts, making 'Audlem – First Village of the North.'
