Tonight, Friday, sees the start of this year's four day Music & Arts Festival in Audlem. It looks an excellent wide-ranging programme and should attract visitors from far and wide. See www.audlemfestival.com (The website link that was here no longer works) for the Festival's website.

Tonight's programme kicks off with the very popular St James' School Performance of Music in St James' Church at 7.00pm. All four pubs – three in Audlem plus the recently re-opened White Lion in Hankelow – have live music. The Duffey Boys, plus many guests, are performing at the Lord Combermere on the Square while the Shroppie Fly features the popular local band Gambler.

Pub lovers will be delighted that the Bridge Inn re-opened on Monday this week, and therefore in time for the Festival, after its major refurbishment. Audlem musician John Gunstone will playing on keyboards at the Bridge while the very popular Pete Price, always a stalwart of the Festival, is playing in Hankelow at the White Lion.

Friday's Performers

St James School Performance of Music in St James Church: Children from the school give their Festival performance under the guidance and direction of Mr Sutton in this very popular event in the wonderful St James Church.

Duffey Boys Music Night (Many guests) at the Lord Combermere: Reflecting their regular Thursday night at The Lord Combermere, The Duffey Boys sing and play their own acoustic songs, some covers and are joined by special guests including Same Old Noise (Kirsty Emerton & Jack Marshall); Nick Lundie; Meloustic Monkeys; Wayne Capper; Dan Lagan; Mike Vaughan and Reuben Palin.

Gambler at the Shroppie Fly:

Firm local favorites "Gambler" are ready to deal out a dose of serious rock covers at the Shroppie Fly. Now an established 3 piece, the classic combination of Guitar, Bass and Drums sees lead vocal duties split between Steve Gaffney and local favorite Kev Wright. Even Drummer Paul Turner gets in on the act too!

John Gunstone at the Bridge Inn:

Pianist John Gunstone plays a relaxing mix of jazz and soul. From classical routes, John has become a respected blues keyboard player, touring with the Otis Grand big blues band and James Wheeler. More recently he has taken on the role of Hammond organ player for Whitesnake's Bernie Marsden.

Pete Price at the White Lion:

Hailing from Warrington, Pete Price makes a welcome return to this year's Festival. An extremely talented Acoustic Guitar/Vocalist with a wealth of experience, covering many different blues styles.

All the pub events start at 9.00pm except the Lord Combermere's music which gets underway at 8.30pm.
