Audlem FC's game on Sunday was an away fixture versus Sandbach Town F C. Sadly I could not be there due to family commitments, so a truncated report.

It was a cup tie (The Presidents Cup). We fielded a scratch team again as we struggle to get a committed 14 players.

Red carded Kev Rodgers was ruled out this game as part of his punishment. And news that our goalkeeper jimmy Murphy has been banned for the following three games plus a £35 fine is not good. Violent conduct the judges ruled! A bit over the top but we have to accept the ruling. No appeals in this league.

The game. A tight affair. It went 1 to them. 1 to us. One to them, 1 to us. Then we went ahead 3-2. We were playing well in spite of the depleted team. Then they equalised. 3-3. Full time.

Extra time was then played. A penalty awarded to them – a trifle unjust apparently. In the end we lost 5-4. And gained three bookings for talking to the ref!

Two goals by Andrew Bettely make him man of the match.

It can be said that we are definitely playing better as the season grows. I live in hope. Next game at home versus Santa Maria – minus Christopher Columbus!
