AUDLEM F C MATCH REPORT 23rd Oct.

Match day dawns once more . Sunday tied up once more. After quite a hectic but successful night at the Chilli Night dance in the Hall. A tad weary, but still full of hope as we load for our away fixture. A so quiet a village – ruined for trade by United Utilities digging a huge hole in the centre. And on a weekend when the best trade here happens!!So bad for our hard pressed shops and cafes . I would have thought we could have appealed against such planning and picked a better quieter day – or was it an emergency?

Off we drive through the lanes to Wrenbury to face Wrenbury F C . A good team. Well trained and playing good football.
Cold biting wind cutting across the pitch. Real chilly air all about us . Church bells somewhat muffled by the stiff breeze as we get under way. Referee today, the bearded Jem Cornes. Good referee with good reputation. Recent signing Will Slant plays in goal. At the age of 16! . A true trial for him but we have but a scratch team of just 12 players . And that includes some not so fit players. Our sub is Adam "Senior " Cooper.
New signing, Billy Wale from Nantwich. Another 16 year old . Good player we are told. Whatever he is straight in as we need him!

Kick off sharp at 1100
Fast opening exchanges but Wrenbury F C a bit better with controlled play.
And it is rewarded.
1105
WFC shot – excellent shot, beats Will

1120
Yet another fine goal
0-2.
1123
. What words do I have ? they fail me .
We then have a real chance ton score but we fluff it .WFC playing so well. Man to man passes. On the deck. Such a contrast.
New player our Billy Wale is good. Doing well up front – so do hope he scores on his debut
THEN
1125
**********
1130. Connor Joines (our top scorer) wins a free kick. Firmly booted and in off the post for a goal!! Hooray! Some hope is kindled
Good battling by Connor his fine shot is saved. We are showing some fire now – but is it too late ?

Sun coming out to give the impression of warmth in this chill breeze. Half time approaching.
THEN---- with seconds to go before the whistle. I do so feel deflated. Like one of our practice balls.

SECOND HALF.

Young Will leaves the goal duty. Kyle Doughty goes in with a damaged ankle. On comes the father of the team ,. Our only sub. Adam Cooper.
In this half we have the so called advantage of the slope and the wind. Will it help us? Will it be an extra man for us? I wonder.
Good play by Joe Benson feeds Connor but his shot goes over the bar. Transfer papers done for Adam Myers from White Horse . He will be available for selection next week. . Papers sent into D J Farral Esq. Of the League .
We win a penalty as Connor is brought down in the box.
1156 .
Connor takes it and he scores
2-5 now
Ref books James Bebbington for a bad tackle . Yellow .
We do seem to improve with that goal by Connor. Great cross by young Brad jones straight to his brother, Connor. He shoots but it is saved again .
1215
2-6! Yet more shame
1220
2-7. xxxxxxx!!
1222
2-8 Taken apart . Scuttled . Emasculated . What more can I say .So much for the slpoe and the wind.
All over. I can say no more
Lost 2-8 last week.
Are we in Groundhog days with these latest results – I so pray not!!
