We are pleased to say that our AGM , held on Wednesday in the Bridge Inn with the management giving so generously some refreshments , was a truly fine occasion.

At this meeting our long serving Chairwoman , Ann Bowles welcomed all and gave a short summary of the year now over. The efforts of the team of very willing volunteers who have – over the last 12 months – in that tiny shop ( the very smallest in the village) been working from 1000 to 1230 each day – bar Sunday – AND raised the magnificent sum of £30,000!!

Giving all their time freely to reach this fine figure.

Then – Karen Jeffreys Our Secretary read the minutes of the 2018 AGM.

Karen also outlined how we are now using Ebay as well as auctioneers to seek the best prices possible for the more desirable goods that are donated to us. Her target is to try for £1000 this year!!

Ralph Warburton, treasurer, gave the financial report for the year which painted a very health position and gave his thanks to Kevin Mellor who gives of his time freely in preparing the yearend balance sheet.

So, we , the committee of the Charity Shop , have determined how to give all this magnificent sum of £30,000 away to local deserving causes who are in their way health connected.

Accordingly, the following donations were awarded:

  • St Luke's Cheshire Hospice £20,000 – presented by Carole Smith
  • The Donna Louise Trust £4,000 – presented by Lynn Wheeler
  • The Wingate Centre £4,000 – presented by Lee Edgerton
  • ADCA of Audlem £1,000 – presented by Joan Pierce
  • The Wheelie Boat Service £1,000 – presented by Valerie Mackin

The Chair, Mrs Ann Bowles then introduced members of the volunteers to tell us of " a funny thing ...." and a lovely interlude of happy and fun tales were presented by members of the team.

Meeting closed at 1515.

Thanks were expressed to Kieran of The Bridge Inn for his hospitality .

Treasurer
