This month we were joined by Phil Crosby, a full time Team Leader from the Canal & River Trust. After Phil rolled out the risk assessment and safe methods of work for today's task we headed down to lock 15.
This month we were involved in Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) which involves lubricating gate collars and paddles, check and tighten bolts and lock fittings, clean lock signs, check and paint as required CILL markers, check lock ladders and clear vegetation and all tree debris.
Again the programme of work gave the team an interesting day, a local litter pick and the canal tow path and lock quadrants were cleared of leaves in the area of work. Although I think the trees / falling leaves are winning the battle at present.
The team were delighted to be joined by 2 new volunteers, Steve and Angela Freear who live locally, this in turn gave us 6 volunteers plus the lead volunteer.
The weather today was dry and warm we are delighted to say and as normal hot drinks were freely available thanks to Chris and Peter from the Audlem Mill
Shop.
For information our next scheduled Towpath Taskforce Day is on Saturday 11th November and you are more than welcome to join us for an interesting days work.
As always we meet up in our yard adjacent to the entrance to the Audlem Mill Shop at 10:00am.

Volunteer Lock Keeper / Lock Ranger
