You might be forgiven for believing that there is enough natural intelligence already in the AudlemOnline webteam (although there are some who would disagree, judging from our email inbox) that we should not have to resort to the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence).
However, we do have a particular problem with pictures that go with each story – we always want to have a picture if we can.
On many occasions, whoever submits a story provides a picture or two to go with it. On many others we can use a logo or another picture that we already have. The problem arises when we have no suitable picture in our galleries and we go out onto the internet to find one. It is usually quite easy to find a picture, but the issue is the copyright that may go with it and woe betide us if we are caught infringing a copyright.
So our technical support whizzkids at ThenMedia have come to our rescue by taking out a contract with an AI image supplier – we just type in the subject we are trying to illustrate and a few seconds later an image which is guaranteed copyright-free is returned to us.
So some of the pictures we publish alongside your articles may look a bit weird (sse the WI meeting report today), but in our view it is better than having no picture.
So, dear story providers, the answer is in your hands – if you want to ensure that the picture alongside your article is what you want, then send it to us with the article. Otherwise we are all at the mercy of the AI gurus.
As examples, the pictures above were generated when we asked for the Lord Combermere Pub and the Shroppie Fly. Perhaps AI is not yet quite the threat that it is made out to be.
