aston wi meeting place

Our first evening meeting this year took place on 3rd September at Aston Chapel and our Vice President Irene Williamson welcomed everyone on behalf of our President Rose Lomas who has contracted Covid.
The President's table was decorated with a lovely bowl of summer flowers prepared by Sue Thomas.
We sang Jerusalem and continued with the business of the evening.
The Luncheon Club are meeting at the Lord Combermere in Audlem on Tuesday 7th September at 12:00 noon.
On Wednesday 8th September the Walking Group are meeting at the Wilbraham Arms. Sandbach Road North, Alsager at 10:30am.
Our Vice President then introduced the speaker, Jill Adlington and invited her to present her talk entitled "Painting for Everyone". She gave us a very interesting painting demonstration using 'The Bob Ross' technique. She used oils on canvas, building up layers and blending colours to create a lovely landscape scene. It was so interesting and relaxing to watch and fascinating to see the finished picture eventually emerge from the canvas.
Cynthia Gorton gave the vote of thanks.
We were then all ready to enjoy our usual tea and cakes.
The competition this month was a painted pebble and was won by Sue Thomas.
The winners of our raffle prizes, one of which was Jill's painting, included June, Christine, Eileen, Pam and Vicky.
Our next meeting is at Aston Chapel on 1st October at 7:15pm when the speaker will be Graham Dodd talking about Ada Neild. The competition will be a Pin Cushion.
Please come along and join us as Visitors and New Members are always very welcome.
