Members and guests were welcomed to the June meeting by President Heather Pass.

Our speaker for the evening was Mrs Dawn Mason, a local florist, who gave us a wonderful demonstration entitled "Distinctive Floristry Designs". Whilst she worked on a hand tied arrangement containing roses and tulips, a table centre basket in white and green and a very modern arrangement in green and purple she gave us a history of her business which she started in 2004. Her unique and tailor made designs for any occasion are produced in a converted barn on her parents farm and has expanded over the years. All of this plus a young family to look after is very impressive.

Dawn was thanked by Sue Thomas after which three lucky members won the arrangements in a raffle.

All of our classes continue during June. The Walking group will next meet on Wednesday 15th June at Nantwich Marina and the Luncheon Club at Brookfield Golf Club on Tuesday 7th June. Arrangements for our entries to Nantwich Show are well under way. A trip in July, organised by the Malbank Group, to the Macclesfield Silk Museum and Tabley Hall was also on offer.

At next months meeting on Friday 1st July we welcome Mrs Daphne Ashby who will speak on "The Skill of Embroidery". Many of our members are busy perfecting their entries for our Produce and Handicraft Show at the August meeting so Mrs Ashby will be able to give us some last minute ideas.

If you would like to join us a friendly welcome awaits and full details can be found on our website at www.astonanddistrictwi.org
