From Audlem St James' School' latest Newsletter:

Art work Success and Learning in a Variety of Ways! Sapphire class visited the Science Discovery Centre at Techniquest as part of their topic on Toys. They spent the morning learning about forces and enjoyed a 'Dancing Birds' workshop using Lego to build toy birds. They also discovered how to make the birds move and dance using pulleys.

This week has seen the start of an exciting Book Project linked to St James' Church. Over the next few weeks each class will work with Sonia Kay and other volunteers from St James' Church to help to write and illustrate a storybook to be published and sold to raise funds for the 'Raising the Roof fund' at church.

Amethyst, Amber, Pearl and Ruby classes all put on their Thinking Caps to come up with ideas about James and his dilemma this week. The children have had a great time using their imaginations to add details to the story and I know Sonia and her team have been impressed with the work they have produced so far!

Diamond and Sapphire classes will work on this project next week and I will let you know more about the final book once the project is complete.

Congratulations to Lizzie Edwards and Grace Tonks who were both prize winners in the Nantwich Rotary Club Primary schools art competition. Lizzie was the overall winner for our school and Grace runner up. Both girls were presented with their award by local MP Edward Timpson last Saturday at Nantwich museum.
