Audlem Art Club's Visit to the Williamson Gallery

On the recommendation of Christine Johnson, our Tutor, on Friday 17th March we journeyed to the Williamson Museum and Art Gallery in Birkenhead to view Michael Brennan Wood's exhibition entitled "The Encirclement of Space". We all enjoyed the exhibition and were lucky enough to meet and talk to the artist himself. The gallery also houses other artists' work and a permanent fine collection of Pre-Raphaelite paintings, ceramics and sculptures. Well worth a visit.

Whist some of our group lunched at the gallery a few of us made our way to Benty Farm Tearooms in Thurstaston which we can also recommend. From there, following a suggestion by one of our members who originates from the area, we did our own version of a short "ARS" walk through nearby Thurstaston Common which bought us to a wonderful panaramic view of the Dee Estuary to North Wales. Clearly visible are Talacre beach, the Great Orme and Angelsey. To your right are Kirby and Hoylake and just visible Hilbre Island.

A good time was had by all.

Our art group takes place every other Friday in the Scout and Guide Hall. We are a friendly group of mixed abilities working in all medias. You don't have to be a Picasso just bring along a "have a go attitude". For more information email Christinedillinghamjohnson23@outlook.com or just pop in to see us.
