The 2013 programme of ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) walks on the second Saturday of each month has now been published. The programme is:

January 12th: A linear walk of about 10 miles along the Sandstone Trail from south of Bickerton Hill to Beeston Castle. Led by Bob Cartwright and 2 Boot difficulty.

February 16th: A 10 mile circular walk from Craven Arms over Wenlock Edge. The walk includes Callow Hill and Flounders Folly (once owned by Julie Christie). Approximately 350 metres of ascent. Led by Steve Elliott (3 Boot).

March 9th: A 10 mile walk through the Clent Hills, south west of Birmingham with excellent views of Birmingham and Worcestershire. Height gain 1700 feet. Led by Peter Kay (3 Boot).

April 13th: A 10 mile circular walk from Cilcain, taking in Moel Arthur, Moel Dywyll and finally Moel Famau with fantastic views over the Clywdian valley towards Snowdonia. Approximately 750 metres of ascent. Led by Connor McIlwrath (3 Boot).

May 11th: A circular walk of about 10 miles along Derwent Edge above the Howden, Derwent and Ladybower reservoirs. Approximately 550 metres of ascent. Led by Andy Davidson (3 Boot).

June 8th: Beaumaris – Details to follow in due course. Led by Tony Crowther .

July 13th: A circular walk starting from Clun and taking in Iron Age Hill Fort of Bury Ditches. A total of 10.25 miles with 615 metres of ascent. Led by John Vickers (3 Boot).

August 10th: Snowdonia – Details to follow in due course. Led by Will Williams.

September 14th: A 12 mile circular walk from Llangollen along the canal to the Horseshoe Falls and then to the highest point of Llantysilio before dropping down to the Horseshoe Pass and returning to Llangollen along the Clwydian Way. Led by Simon Probert (3 Boot).

October 12th: Derbyshire – Details to follow in due course. Led by Chris Roche.

November 9th: A circular walk of 11.5 miles around Abbots Bromley and Bagots Park over flat land and rolling fields. Led by Howard Jones (2 Boot+).

December 14th: An 8 mile walk on the borders of Cheshire and Staffordshire from Danebridge, along the River Dane via Gradbach to Roach End. With a possibility of a visit to the Wincle Brewery. Followed in the evening by the ARS Christmas Dinner. Led by Bob Cartwright (2 Boot).

The Short-ARS programme (shorter, easier walks normally on the last Saturday of the month) will be published shortly. The programme starts on Saturday 26th with the Smart-ARS walk (with quiz and poetic clues) that was postponed on 29th January because of very wet weather and replaced with a local walk not involving pens and paper.

The ARS AGM with a meal will be on Wednesday 27th February in the Lord Combermere. Further details will be announced nearer to the date.
