Eddisbury schools to see significant funding increase

Yesterday in a statement to the House, the Secretary of State for Education set out the Government's final decisions on the national funding formula for schools and high needs. The new national funding formula will come into effect from April 2018 replacing the current system allowing for a formula which is based on the individual needs and characteristics of every school in the country.

This announcement follows the statement made on 17 July, when the Secretary of State set out the Governments plans to invest an additional £1.3 billion in schools and high needs over the next two years, on top of existing plans. This means that the core funding underpinning the national funding formulae will rise to £43.5 billion in 2019-20.
The Government is also increasing high needs funding, which is used to support the most vulnerable children in society. Each local authority will receive at least 1% more per head of population in 2019-20, compared to their baselines.

In response to the statement, Antoinette Sandbach MP thanked the Secretary of State and the Minister responsible for schools for sending officials to Cheshire to understand some of the problems faced by the schools.
This announcement will see schools across Eddisbury receive an average increase of 1.8% once the national funding formula has been fully implemented. Secondary schools will attract a minimum of £4,800 per pupil and all primary schools will attract at least £3,500 in 2019-20.
