Anti-Social Behaviour comes in many guises under the police umbrella such as neighbour disputes, fly tipping and nuisance dogs to mention but a few. But Anti-Social Behaviour is usually deemed by members of the public as children (mainly teenagers) causing problems in their communities such as drinking alcohol, littering, causing criminal damage and generally being a nuisance.
Audlem has suffered in the recent past and I have personally dealt with many incidents over the years as your local Police Community support Officer.
However it gives me great pleasure to report that from January 1st 2014 to June 30th 2014 Nantwich Police have not received any calls regarding Anti-Social Behaviour involving children in the Village.
That doesn't mean to say I have not found children dropping litter around the play park or some being boisterous in the village centre, but nothing that has made members of the public call the police.
I feel a number of factors have contributed to this 'good news story'. The behaviour of the children young and old has been excellent; they are willing to engage with the police and will listen to any advice given by myself and other officers.
I have visited the primary school on many occasions over the past seven years giving presentations on Anti-Social Behaviour and subjects such as 'The Consequences of Crime' The faces on some of the older children when I tell them you only have to be 10 years old to be arrested is a picture.
Parents and guardians also deserve a mention. In this day and age of the internet, social media etc. it is sometimes difficult to keep tabs on what your children are actually doing even when at home let alone when out playing with friends, so a good morale background and upbringing are without doubt factors in how children will behave in later life.
Of course we cannot become complacent. The summer holidays are here and it is the time when Anti-Social Behaviour increases. It would be great to report in another six months the same good news, but unfortunately I'm not sure that will be the case. But with the public's help and police patrols I am confident we can keep things to a minimum.
Your local officers are PC Sarah Marson and PCSO Nick Jarvis. Please call 101 to report incidents such as Anti-social Behaviour and in an emergency always call 999.
