The article placed on AOL on Friday 1st March asking for help resulted in over 20 volunteers turning out to sweep the village. Head-count proved tricky given how swiftly people were sweeping.

Windmill Drive grass triangles were given a spring clean. The path alongside Turnpike Field towards Green Lane and the entrance by the canal bridge were both relieved of wet leaves – worms were rehoused in flower beds. Cutting back of lavender was a wonderfully smelly job.

The car park at The Lord Combermere was swept and spruced, which placed us nicely on location for the much-appreciated coffee break that Allan provides for us. Then it was on to the main car park for more sweeping and back in time for lunch.

We are lucky to have some young volunteers on board now, which will prove useful when there is much bending and kneeling to be done. Annie is getting a taste of ADAS volunteering, Ruby is working on her The Duke of Edinburgh's Award and Matti helps to get community work on his CV.

Thanks to everyone who helped out.

Reminder

The ADAS AGM will be held on Thursday 7th March at 7.30pm in the Scout & Guide Hall.
