Summer Planting

Saturday, 28 May, saw yellow jackets busying around the village, getting the summer planting scheme in situ.

We had a great turn-out of volunteers, and the operation ran like clockwork, with a team of two running ahead of the start by adding feed and compost to the tubs and troughs. Behind the composters was a plant-placer delivering plant 'kits' to locations. The plant kits were put together from the HQ plant centre by The Boss.

Planting was scheduled from 0930 to 1230hrs with an option to return on Sunday. We weren't going to complete by 1230hrs, but the vote was to carry on and finish, thereby getting a lie-in on Sunday. Good call in my book!

Our youngest ADAS volunteer, Tiggi Nixon, did a great job planting up the two troughs at Windmill Drive.

Pictures include; one of the sensory beds at Lord C, a trough planted by Tiggi, and a delightful bee enjoying a meal at the Sensory Bed Caf.

The plants have only been in for ten days, yet they are already looking fabulous. Our North West in Bloom judging day is to be on 5 August. Fingers crossed!
