ADAS awards for 2012

The 43rd Annual General meeting of Audlem District Amenities Society was held last night in the Public Hall.

A record audience of over 70 members of the community were present to hear the annual report by our Chairman, Julie Hesketh.

She covered all the facets of the work ADAS carries out through the year, encompassing Audlem in Bloom – where for the 3rd year running we have been awarded a medal and the successful and much enjoyed Choral night in St James Church.

There were also the very well received Fashion show and Table Top sale, the magnificent Christmas display and very popular Carol Singing night. Plus the input by the St James' School children with their pumpkin growing efforts. We continue to provide the voluntary Hospital Car service to those in need.

The highlight of the night was the presentation of awards.

The Citizen of the year is Ann Bowles of The Audlem Charity Shop. A tremendous hard working leader of a great group of villagers working to raise funds for charities – this year they are supporting St  Luke's Hospice and The Donna Louise Children's Hospice.

The new Young Citizen award went to Henry Bradshaw who is a shining example of all the good there is in the young people of the community.

The Award for Best Garden was presented by David Latchford to Christine and Roy Plume of School Lane for their superb garden and the Best Commercial trophy was presented to Tim and Nikki Ball of Audlem CycleSport. 

The evening finished with very warm chatting and reminiscing and planning ahead – with a return of the very popular Open Gardens weekend in June 2013. 

Our thanks to all who came for what was a very, very successful evening. And especially to all our supporters and donors, without whom we could not do all that we do.
