ADAPT Saturday Market. Saturday 6th September Lord Combermere Carpark.

It s been an exceptional year for the harvest of early apples and pears. The trees have been groaning under their weight, with many trees stressed producing their fruit with very little water to their roots. Has anyone noticed that the Oak trees have been doing the same and raining acorns as well. This year, I have a Cox s Orange Pippin apple tree which is in a bad way, and in order to save the tree, I have taken off all the apples as the tree has no energy to bring them to maturity. Fingers crossed for its survival.

With the profusion of early apples, we will be having our first Community Apple Pressing session of the season in the Methodist Chapel Carpark next Saturday 10-2pm, 13th September more details next week, put it in your diary and bring the youngsters along to help.

The market will be on as usual this week and next. On the market this week will be runner and French beans, tomatoes, courgettes, damsons, plums, apples and pears. We have free range eggs, honey and fresh apple juice, and a great range of preserves to choose from: Freshly made:
