As you walk up the path to St James Church the area on your right, where the daffodils were a show of delight a couple of months ago, now is a show of a different kind. It has become clear that as the area has not been strimmed because of the daffodils, a multitude of wild plants has taken over the show. In particular spectacular Bulbous Buttercups are everywhere bringing sunshine even on the dullest of days. Sorrel, Speedwell and a host of grasses have added to the display.

So to help us enjoy this free show the area will be kept as a wild flower area and only cut later in the summer. It will be exciting to see what else, saved from the mowers blades, will appear for us.

But of course, it is not only us humans that can enjoy it. Other wildlife will also find it a useful habitat and food source. Because the area is at eye level, as you walk up the slope you will see bees feeding on the buttercup flowers and if you are lucky, as I was a few days ago, Small Copper Butterflies on their favourite Sorrel plants.
