The editor thought that this chatbox post from Roland Turner summed up the success of the events over the weekend, so it is published here as an article – thank you, Roland
The sun shone, not a cloud in sight and finally some good news, something the village could be proud of. A good news item for AOL to start the week with. I am, of course, talking about the cars and boats that descended on Audlem for the weekend. The weather helped but there must have been well over 300 cars and a canal full of interesting boats with stories to tell, it reminded me why Audlem is such a great place to live.
I believe that everyone that crowded into the village would agree it was a great and spectacular event, a good time was had by all. Let's not however forget the hundreds if not thousands of residents and friends that lined the route from Hankelow to the Playing Field. I know, as I was fortunate to take part in the parade, what a special feeling this support gives to the cars and occupants taking part.
I, and I am sure many others, would like to thank ASET for organising the Transport Festival again and for all the volunteers who marshaled the event. Thanks also to those at the Hankelow end (especially the bacon butty tent), I hope the fund raising towards next years event went well. I also hope that all the local businesses had a really successful day. A great weekend for all.
