Many of our readers and drivers will have noticed that new 20mph signs with flashing lights have been installed in recent weeks on Cheshire Street.

Their purpose is to reduce traffic speeds at the times of day when children and carers are walking to and from school and the 20mph limit only applies when the lights are flashing.

Governors and staff at Audlem St James Primary school would like to draw people's attention to these signs and remind them that is for the safety of our local children and carers during drop off and pickup times.

Ed: The importance of this request is reinforced in the bottom right photo in which a driver entered the village from the Nantwich direction at above 20mph (sign was flashing) and lighting up the 30mph sign indicating an excessive speed. Click on the photo for more detail
