santa and sleigh

What seems an aeon ago, in less troubled times, we had the most popular annual Santa Claus appearance on his sleigh, touring all over the district, along with his very willing helpers as they walked miles in winter weather to seek collections for good causes.

We are very pleased to say that £2000 was given freely by all who came to the sleigh and their front doors. A superb record sum!
Now we are in a position to distribute that money- delayed as so many things have been , by the Covid-19 cloud.
As such we will share this out – with £250 going to each of the following -

  • Audlem Saints Football -for youngsters
  • ADAS – that fantastic team who care so much for the Village.
  • ADAPT – Community group acting actively for transition – safe guarding all our futures.
  • Friends of Audlem School – working to help our young children's future
  • Audlem Festival Committee – team working had to enhance the spirit of the community.
  • First Audlem Guides – giving children the happiness of guides, scouts, brownies, beavers , cubs .
  • Audlem Cricket Club – keeping that traditional game alive here in Audlem.
  • Audlem 5 A's – superb theatre group of long standing.

Thanks to Crewe & Nantwich Round Table

The cheques will perforce have to be given over – without a photo opportunity, due to the way of life we are presently living under.
I will be asking each recipient to write with their thanks to me, which I will give to the Round Table Members of Crewe & Nantwich ,on whose sleigh we travel and who give freely their help in the collecting.

The team

The Team who braved the elements on the December nights of the 7th and 8th were -
Matt Bonnell. Geoff Stretch. Rick Youle, Kev Mort, Ade and Ryan Hassall , Susan and Charles Cavill, Roger Whittaker, Russel Black ,Tom & Adam Rodgers.
Plus Wayne Burrell and his son (of Round Table). Sleigh driven so expertly by Phil Brereton as ever. And Santa in the sleigh.

Now to plan for December this year – given that we will have emerged from these so horrid times.
