Bob McClintock on Pot Holes and floods in our parish

10th January 2023 @ 7:01pm

Pot hole in Cheshire St patched Hooray. Corbrook flood .I reckon is about to celebrate its 10th birthday. We must celebrate it's longevity and congrats to Cheshire East Council. Have they reached their lowest stage of incompetence I ask . Everybody knows it requires a bigger drain into the adjacent stream. Perhaps Councillor Rachel could get this problem moving.

Or it could be on the left depending on which way you're travelling

Kevin Errington on Cheshire St Sinkholes

10th January 2023 @ 12:18pm

I have reported the various sinkholes on Cheshire St, you can't even call them potholes now.
I've requested the police to put warning cones around the one just past Emberton Way as it's depth is invisible once full of water and a cyclist or motorcyclist will suffer serious injury if they hit it.
I gave up on Cheshire East councils 'emergency ' number after 20 minutes on hold so went to fill in their online form but someone had already done it on Sunday.
Be careful out there!

Denise Harrison on Walking football

10th January 2023 @ 11:22am

I would love to know why the walking football group has been singled out. Every other activity is allowed to play in the public hall, but not us. Surely its a community hall, so everyone should be included. Its not like we will be wearing studs or using hard balls. I feel its a real let down and i am very disappointed to who has decided to not allow us. I would love to know your reasoning.

It's the one I missed to avoid! And, for info, it's on the right of the road.

Paul Cawood on Theft

9th January 2023 @ 10:35am

I'm sad to report we were victims of theft last night. A prized possession- a blue mountain bike was stolen. If anyone saw anything between 20.30 and 11.30 please let me know as it will help the constabulary. The sad part is the bike is useless. It's a downhill racing bike, it only does one thing, use gravity to go downhill quickly.

Only "one" pothole Brian???

Helen Beardshall on Audlem Charity Shop

8th January 2023 @ 10:01am

Hi Sally – thanks for your interest – In February 2011 the decision was made by Cancer Research to close the Audlem Aid to Cancer Research Shop. A small group of volunteers decided to reopen the shop as Audlem Charity Shop and we now support St Luke's Hospice and a number of local charities.

Sally Taylor on Charity Shop

7th January 2023 @ 7:40pm

I'm interested as to why the Charity Shop is no longer affiliated to Cancer Research, a most important charity?

Brian Bugeja on Pothole at entrance to Greenlane

7th January 2023 @ 10:15am

Watch out – pothole at entrance to Greenlane,, when coming from Audlem, on the left side of the road. Tyre / suspension killer! Needs fixing urgently. Not visible when raining.

I raised issue with Cheshire East : https://fixmystreet.cheshireeast.gov.uk/report/4097323

Joan bennett on Local heroics

6th January 2023 @ 8:22pm

I'm not quite sure what happened this afternoon in the village but there was obviously a gentleman in dire distress, it was brilliant to see a member of staff from the coop, a apparent nurse and man in a high viz assisting and offering this gentleman first aid and some dignity. I really hope all involved are ok and this gentleman is on the mend

Helen Beardshall on Charity Shop

6th January 2023 @ 5:38pm

Hi Maggie, yes the Audlem Charity Shop is open on Saturdays only and it is weather dependent – we don't mind the cold, but rain is a problem! We reopen on the 14 January at 10am and look forward to seeing all our many loyal customers and friends.
Just for information – we are no longer affiliated to Cancer Research.

Nigel Mottershead on Dangerous driving through the village

6th January 2023 @ 8:28am

Hi,
Sadly my wife came across presumably the same youth in the Square, riding it badly and hurling abuse at people. Maybe our local PCSO could have a word with him before any permanent damage is done.

Maggie Edwards on Contact information

5th January 2023 @ 9:08pm

Is the Cancer Shop open on a Saturday during the winter months ? Thank you.

Lynne Smith on Dark Nights

5th January 2023 @ 6:03pm

Could I please request that if you are out walking your dog after 4pm you wear something light coloured or even better a high vis item as some parts of the village are very dark and drivers can't see you until the last minute. – stay safe – thank you.

Michael Brown on local carpenter

5th January 2023 @ 4:16pm

Hello, I'm looking for a local carpenter who could fit some new internal doors, is reliable and comes recommended.

Thanks

George McLaren-Brown on Audlem Community SpeedWatch.

5th January 2023 @ 3:36pm

As Audlem Parish Council does not recognise the need for them to be involved in Audlem Community SpeedWatch it has been necessary to open a Bank Account with Lloyds Bank in order to be able to raise funds to purchase equipment which will help to reduce speeding within our village. I am e-mailing John Dwyer Police, Crime Commissioner for Cheshire to apply for a grant to purchase more equipment such as High VIS vests for volunteers as without them volunteers are not covered by insurance through Cheshire Police . All equipment to monitor traffic are not supplied either by Cheshire Police or Audlem Parish Council. Therefore we are looking for more volunteers to help us to achieve our goals, with the basic equipment we use at this present time. We are looking for grants to purchase Body Cameras and SID to place around the village informing vehicle drivers the speed they are travelling within the 30mph zone.
So if you have a spare hour to help us as a volunteer that is all it takes per week, please get in touch with us either on 07377623993 or e-mail gmacbrown@hotmail.com and make a difference. We are also looking for a volunteer fund raiser to help make Audlem not only a lovely historic village but also a safer village.

Maddie Marquis-Jones on Dangerous driving through the village

4th January 2023 @ 6:20pm

Has anyone else had any issues with some youngish idiot on an extremely noisy bike/moped?

Seems happy to pull out on cars hardly a metre in front of him which he's seen coming and seems to like swearing at people as if he's in the right and extremely cool rather than wait at the junction by the lord combermere like he should've! Had to slam my brakes and beep at him even though it was my right of way!

Clearly thinks he owns the road with that silly noisy bike of his! Can't wait till he messes with the wrong person one day!

Sue Beaumont on Plumber

4th January 2023 @ 11:49am

Can anyone recommend a local plumber who could fix a downstairs cloakroom toilet and taps please?

Bruce Mantle on Green Lane flooding

4th January 2023 @ 9:38am

Report on FixMyStreet at 2132 last night of damage caused to car's suspension by pothole hidden under flood water at the intermittent ford:
https://fixmystreet.cheshireeast.gov.uk/report/4083102
I'm also aware of damage to another car before Xmas.
How much longer are Cheshire East Highways going to get away with not fixing this problem, with individual motorists suffering the consequences?
I assume affected motorists can claim costs of repairs from Cheshire East Highways for not meeting their statutory duty to maintain the highway in a satisfactory state.
Has anyone successfully claimed against CEH for damage to a car because of its failure to maintain the highway in a satisfactory state at this location?

Nick Smith on Tree Surgeon
