Wes Lechley on Audlem for coal and fracking group

23rd August 2022 @ 7:17pm

I see this nonsense has been reposted. The proposition is ludicrous on a number of levels. Before being taken in by these simplistic ideas can I suggest that people look at the recent series of documentaries "Big Oil v the World" (available on iplayer) which centres on the sponsoring of climate change denial by the industry, even though 40 years ago their own scientists were warning that burning fossil fuels would cause climate change.
On top of that, there's no actual worldwide shortage of fossil fuels, just a massive exploitation of the current situation by energy companies to generate obscene profits. Ask yourself why if a small independent fuel distributor near Whitchurch can sell petrol profitably at £1.53 are prices at the majority of outlets about 20p more?

Sarah Pendlebury on Audlem for coal and fracking group

23rd August 2022 @ 2:18pm

Hello all residents of Audlem. We are a new group of residents in Audlem who feel it is important to do something regarding the cost of living crisis that so many are facing at the moment. We as a group are fed up with the so called climate change woke agenda effecting the lives of so many people and feel a large number of residents in Audlem will share our sentiments. What we want to do as a group is meet up and discuss how we can show our support for the expansion of the British fossil fuel industry to make sure people don't have to decide between eating and heating this winter. I'm sure we will all agree that the importance of both making sure families are warm and powering industry far outweighs the concerns of a minority of people who have little to no evidence backing up there woke agenda's. Please if you are interested in joining our group do not hesitate to email at Audlem4coalandfracking@hotmail.com

obviously we have seen many posts on Audlem on line regarding ACER and ADAPT so feel there is no reason this post and our group should not share the same support going forward

What has happened to the rule that chatbox posters must use their real full name. There has been a few of late with just a forename and now this ludicrous political post about fossil fuels. I thought all posts were supposed to be moderated so how are these appearing

I am struggling to find anything in Mr. Mottershead's post that is against Parish Council regulations. It is dangerous between Corbrook and Hankelow, as I remember.

Celia Bloor on Footpath

I have heard that if there was a footpath it would mean more housing could be built. No idea if this is true.

Julia Parton on Church Cafe

22nd August 2022 @ 1:53pm

Hope your move to Audlem goes smoothly Denise.
All three churches serve coffee after morning service +the Methodist church have several coffee mornings throughout the year. We are very conscious that we have independent coffee shops which need support- I think I am right in saying Weston only has a pub in the village.

Denise Thorley on Church Cafe

22nd August 2022 @ 12:56pm

I am moving to the village next month, I actually grew up in Audlem and have always wanted to move back. One of my daughters lives in Weston and the church host a cafe on a Wednesday in the church hall which is very popular and I wondered if there is anything similar in Audlem?

Nigel Mottershead on Footpath

22nd August 2022 @ 11:20am

Hi Louise,
I don't know why there isn't a footpath between Corbrook and where the foot path next to the main road restarts at the bottom of the dip on the Hankelow side.
It can be risky walking this stretch on the road itself.
What I would do is take the footpath across the fields from Monks Lane, past The Parkes and on towards the A525. This footpath emerges where the roadside footpath begins and so you can continue on to Hankelow in safety.
Hope this helps.
Nigel.

Louise on Footpath

Why is there no pathway along the road between Corbrook Park Nursing home and Hankelow, or is there another pathway between Audlem and Hankelow that I don't know about?

Nigel Young on Adderley Lights Saga

19th August 2022 @ 9:59am

Just had an email update:-
"Shropshire Council have started working and work are currently in progress.

The permit to allow Shropshire Council to carry out the works has been approved by Shropshire meaning they have permission to carry out the works.

The dates for the works have been changed from to 30 Jun 2020 09:00 – 30 Dec 2022 23:59."

Chris on Funeral Traffic Warden

18th August 2022 @ 6:20pm

Unless the parking warden studies the obituaries of the local papers or checks AOL each day I doubt they would have known about the funeral, and their presence in the village was merely a coincidence.

However, having walked past the car park today the sign at the entrance indicates that the parking limit is 11 hours of free parking. If the car was parked for less time than that then I think you have grounds for an appeal.

I suspect though that the warden felt that the car wasn't parked correctly, otherwise they would have issued tickets to those who park their cars there day and night due to a lack of parking at the home address.

Michael on Funeral Traffic Warden

18th August 2022 @ 11:40am

It is not the first time a traffic warden has appeared on the day of a funeral ! – sadly the village parking is difficult – on Tuesday – not easy to access turnpike re four way traffic lights and green lane closed – surely in those circumstances common sense should prevail which appears to be no longer the case in this world

Peter Morgan on Turnpike Field Ragwort

17th August 2022 @ 10:22pm

Just a point of information for the future control of Ragwort that would help to relieve the strain on volunteers who have toiled under blazing sunshine to manually dig it out of the ground recently. An alternative worth consideration is the use of an atv or quadbike with a weed roller on the back set to a height of say 12 or 18 inches (metric versions are available) above the ground. The roller is fed with a commercial herbicide that wipes the Ragwort with sufficient chemical to kill it without destroying the shorter grasses and valuable flora below it, thus saving much time and manual effort in physically digging it out. Obviously, the timing of the application would depend upon the year and state of growth of the Ragwort but with such alarming density that has been allowed to accumulate under previous management, it would make life a lot easier for the future control of this pernicious and poisonous weed. But well done to all the valiant volunteers who have done such an outstanding job this year.
