Monday 24th April sees Walking Rugby arrive in Audlem!
We will be running a FREE taster session 9:45am till 10:45am on Audlem Playing Field
Generally played by players aged 55+ but open to everyone, Walking Rugby is a non-contact version of the game. Participants must be walking at all times and 'traditional' tackles aren't allowed – they are replaced with a touch on the armpit or below instead

Vegans and more importantly people with milk allergy or intolerance should know that some dark chocolate contains milk powder. Bournville is one ihat does. On the wrapper it is noted as an ingredient but only in small print.
Following on three successful such events and having raised in excess of £4000 for good causes and at the same time we have presented a fine night out for sell out teams, Adriana and I will be putting on another in the autumn for a worthy cause.
More info later and – we will engage the `"Village `Chippy" once more in providing a fine hot supper.
Hi!
I have just bought a 1959 Morris Minor and I am looking for a garage to rent, close to the canal.
I will be using the car a few times a week perhaps? Not daily! So hopefully minimum disturbance.
Cheers x
What a great walk we had on Saturday. We walked along the towpath from Audlem to Market Drayton. It was good under foot until the last half a mile as we were warned. We had coffee and cake at Nomad 63 wine bar and then walked up to Norton in Hales and back along the country lanes to Audlem. It was 16 miles in total and our joints know about it today but thoroughly enjoyed being out in the countryside on a lovely day.
Afraid using the old railway track is a no-no. It was all sold off, so you'd be walking across our back lawn!!
If using the canal path make sure you have good footwear. The section from canal bridge 66 south through Betton Woods towards Drayton can be extremely boggy. And beware of the ghost...
Rachel/Bruce, Many thanks for your replies. Most helpful and appreciated.
Parts of the old Audlem to Market Drayton disused railway line have long been impassable and/or private property.
Bob,
Following on from Rachel Bailey's post, if you you type one.network into the address bar at the top of the screen on a web browser you can view upcoming road works and closures for a selected area via the filter in the top left of the screen.
You can also set up email alerts for roadworks and road closures for a specific area or road. I have one set up for the A529. This however requires the user to set up a user account, which is straightforward and only takes a few minutes. Just click on Sign In in the top right hand corner and there's then a link on the displayed screen to set up a new user account.
Suggest you contact Audlem Ramblers I would think they will be most helpful . A shot in the dark could be the old Audlem to Drayton railway line . Best of luck Lyn
Looking to renew the driveway at the front of the house.
Has anybody used Houseproud SCM for this work? If so, any views about them and their work?
Walk to Market Drayton . Joan and I used to drive in two cars to Drayton. Park one near canal exit
Drive back. Walk to Drayton along the canal, which must have lovely blossom now. And then have lunch there and drive back. A very genteel and happy day

Can anyone reccomend a circular walk from Audlem to Market Drayton, using the canal for one direction. Don't really want to walk back the same way and the road has very few footpaths. Thanks in advance x
Calling all local community groups
My name is Clare and I am the new Coop Member Pioneer for Audlem. My role is to help the coop support local groups in the area.
Applications for the Audlem Coop Local Community Fund are due to open on the 10th May -31st May. If you're a group based in the Audlem area who might benefit from some extra funding from the coop, now's the time to start thinking about submitting an application. Hello, Does anyone know why Longhill Lane, Hankelow will be closed from 27th April to 12th May? The closure will be in the stretch just along side of The White Lion. Thanks.
Thanks everyone for your support, we have now resolved our situation. what a wonderful community.
Hi Andy, we have a wheelchair you can borrow for both days, co tact us if still required
Thomas P Bennion was on the 1871 census as living in Market Drayton ..... Green Bank is a road in Adderley just across the county border in Shropshire. Obviously Adderley was included as Market Drayton in the census records
1881 census has him as a retired farmer living in Audlem... the original census details will narrow the search down...hope this helps....
Hi Everyone. My name is Clare and I am the new member pioneer for Audlem coop. My role is to help the coop support local community groups with funding and publicising any events they are involved with. As part of this I want to invite any local community groups in the Audlem area, including our current 3 causes, Audlem Saints Football Club, Friends of Audlem school and Audlem and District Community Action Group, to start thinking about applying to be a coop Local Community Fund group for 2023/2024. Applications open at the beginning of May so follow the link coop.co.uk/causes for more info. Good luck
Further to a question about this gentleman, I looked into the registers we hold here and date from 1874. Thomas Platt Bennion is recorded , in beautiful copper plate writing, as having been buried here in 1888 in grave number
293, to the left of the first path in the oldest area of the grounds
I hope this helps the enquiry.

We have been renting a wheelchair to get to & fro Leighton Hospital. It's now unavailable so any pointers to the source of a wheelchair loan/hire for Wednesday 12th & Tuesday 18th would be most appreciated. Based at Overwater Marina. Thanks in advance.
Hello Audlem
re Thomas Platt Bennion 1815-1885, Gentleman Farmer of Audlem
The above named person died 10 August 1885 at "Green Bank" Audlem. Any idea where this is, or was?
