Can anyone enlighten me as to the reason the parish council has refused to give permission for the planned annual village fete on Turnpike Field, I see this decision coincides with the resignation of the PC chairman shortly followed the by the parish clerk .Should we be concerned ??

I notice that Geoff Seddon has resigned from the Parish council and following that the new clerk has also resigned.

I wanted on behalf of all Audlem residents to put on record my appreciation for all that Geoff has done to restore some pride, professionalism and vision to the work of APC. He has been entirely dedicated to the role and I know that the Parish Council will be far less effective without his presence.

Well done Geoff and thanks from us all! Enjoy your retirement!

I was wondering if there has been any progress recently on the idea of a proper footpath from Audlem to Hankelow past Corbrook. The most recent mention I can find on the website is about 10 years ago.

In response to your request for a recommendation for guttering repair I can really highly recommend a young man by the name of William who trades as WHS Limited. He recently replaced most of my guttering and facias, always turned up when he said he would, price sensible and a brilliant job. This is to let all the local people who knew Dennis Maynard that sadly he passed away on the 1st July, 2024. Dennis and his wife Joan, who passed away last year, were residents of Audlem for many years. Following the loss of Joan, Dennis moved up to Scotland last year.

Solar farms and wind farms are not as green as you might think. They are just a blot on the landscape. No sun no power, no wind no power, and when the wind is a little strong they have to be turned off!

What a shame we have another one of these installations being allowed to go ahead. This takes away more land that can be better used for farming and to cut down on imports. The products used in solar and wind farms are not recycleable and will all have to go to landfill eventually, not that green. The faster they move to nuclear the better.

No criticism of Cheshire East as just obeying orders but my weekly food waste might be a couple of chicken bones! All veg matter can be composted if you have a garden. I prefer to have black bin emptied fortnightly especially in summer if it contains dog poo!

Excellent news about the proposed solar farm. Great to see clean, safe energy being produced so close to home. We owe it to future generations to support this sort of proposal.

I for one wouldn't mind volunteering to warden turnpike, I'm sure there's others out there too. What's a few hours for the sake of our environment and peoples hard work.

I was in Turnpike on Saturday evening and I caught a couple of young lads messing with the life buoy by the pond. Shouted across and they shot off up the hill and across the lock. Might be the cause of the saplings.
