Hi Just wondering if anyone can reccommend somebody who could prune an old apple tree, it would involve cutting some of the main crown branches, thank you

Chris Lewis on Ferret

28th March 2021 @ 11:35am

I wonder if the ferret is indeed a ferret and not a Pole cat. Very similar to ferrets and RSPCA at Nantwich release some at times and it may have become a little domesticated. The real expert on ferrets is of course the much lamented Compo from The last of the Summer wine

Claire Chanon on Help wanted with fencing

28th March 2021 @ 10:56am

Could anyone recommend someone for a job in Audlem dismantling some cat proof fencing ASAP (in the next week) and taking it to Hodnet? The fencing consists of two foot wide boards and rollers which are fixed to the top of a fence in a small garden in the centre of the village.
Thanks

Lorna Saunders on Lost bracelet

27th March 2021 @ 5:22pm

I wanted to publicly thank the lovely people of Audlem who have found and returned my nephew's bracelet!
He is thrilled and can't believe it has been found...so thank you!
A reminder of the lovely community we are part of in Audlem.

Simon Gleave on Broccoli; An Observation....

26th March 2021 @ 3:12pm

Well Billy....she had definitely finished her lunch and like me would certainly have never eaten any broccoli!! So in theory if it was still on her plate it could be true.

However, it was the view of the trees around Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, which from memory are just like broccoli from the air!

Billy Gibbons on Broccoli; An Observation....

26th March 2021 @ 1:31pm

Yes Simon...but; was your daughter looking out of the window of the 'plane OR...looking at her plate when she said it? We need to know this before we can proceed. For IF she was looking at her plate then we shall leave it there. Unless of course, she was looking at her plate and there was NO Broccoli on it, we have a mystery on our hands here! 'Ghost Broccoli' methinks. Conversly; if she said it when she was looking out of the window whilst flying over a Broccoli Farm, again, no big deal. However, the mystery, should there be one, thickens when you realise that 'Plate' and 'Plane' are only one letter differenced. Whereas 'Window' has more letters and none of them are the same as in either 'Plate' or 'Plane' Apart from 'N'.

Think on.......

Simon Gleave on Broccoli; An Observation....

26th March 2021 @ 9:17am

Great observation Billy!

It reminded me of a conversation I had with my daughter (who was 4 at the time) just before landing in Atlanta, Georgia. She said 'look at all the broccoli!' We have laughed about it ever since!

Andy Laughton on Adderley Lights Saga

I have also contacted Shropshire CC and they said "the work itself is part of an improvement scheme along the A529. The work started in 2019 and is due to be completed by December 2021".
These must be the longest standing temporary A road roadworks in the country.
I suspect if they were closer to Shrewsbury/Telford they would have been completed long ago.

Peter Silvester on The Crane

25th March 2021 @ 5:18pm

Thank you to the people who contacted me about the article I wrote on the crane by the canal. Importantly, the family who bought the railway station site have confirmed that the crane was in the goods shed when they took over, and it was removed so it could be put up by the canal. I think that it's now certain that this was the origin of the crane.

Billy Gibbons on Broccoli; An Observation....

I've just realised; Broccoli looks like small trees and small trees look like huge Broccoli.

It's funny what you notice when you need to get out more......

Kevin Mellor on Inconsiderate parking

25th March 2021 @ 3:46pm

Suzie, I think if you read the article about parking again, it refers to car parking spaces not many yards away. It does not refer to a car park. I think the contributor was referring to the spaces behind the white SUV outside the barbers shop and Dressing Rooms.

Suzanne Poole on Inconsiderate parking

25th March 2021 @ 12:39pm

Whilst I totally agree that this is inconsiderate parking I disagree with the comment about the car park a few yards away. It is a car park yes but owned and maintained by the Methodist church and not by Cheshire East or the Co Op.

Billy Gibbons on Green Lane Sign

25th March 2021 @ 8:09am

HOORAY!!!!!!!! At last there's a Green Lane sign at the top of Green Lane!!!!!!!

It was great to see it and now, newcomers to the Village or people visiting people in Green Lane that have never been to Audlem before will now know where Green Lane is!

Well, they will if they go on Google Maps from 2009 and look at the the top of Green Lane. There it is, as large as life or, in this case, as large as a Green Lane sign at the top of Green Lane. And; Cheshire East Council didn't have to do a thing about it, not that they were probably going to anyway. (But...prove me wrong Cheshire East...go on...I dare ya!) ;-)

Daivid Taylor on Potholes

24th March 2021 @ 9:28am

Perhaps Cheshire East should try to get a JCB Pothole Pro on demonstration, look at the JCB website to see what it is capable of.
Quite agree with Ken Jones on the Wood Orchard/Paddock Lane repair.

Tim Bretton on Boiler Service – Oil Fired

24th March 2021 @ 7:51am

Could anybody recommend a local boiler engineer who can service an oil fired boiler? Thanks

Ken jones on Potholes

23rd March 2021 @ 3:44pm

On the cost of repairing potholes there was one in Paddock Lane the other day and it took eight men to carry out this repair one working and seven watching, and the standard of the repair is abysmal. Well done Cheshire East

Lorna Saunders on Lost bracelet

22nd March 2021 @ 5:15pm

I am appealing to the lovely people of Audlem in the hope someone finds a black Tommy Hilfiger bracelet that was lost yesterday (Sunday 21st). Somewhere between the Anwyl estate and the playing fields. It has sentimental value as well as monetary value so really hoping it is found and returned. Thank you

Billy Gibbons on Walkers.

22nd March 2021 @ 12:06pm

Just wondering; what is the reason walkers choose to walk on the opposite side of the road? Specifically Green Lane. I've seen a few recently who walk on the side of the road where there is no pavement as opposed to the side of the road where there is one. There must be a reason for this (other than not wanting to get too close to my house perhaps? Answers on a PostCard) Green Lane is dangerous enough when you walk on the pavement let alone when you don't. As I say though; there must be a logical reason for this...what is it please? I'll discount 'Safety' as being one of them. ;-)

Nick Smith on Plumber

21st March 2021 @ 6:55pm

Can anyone recommend a good, reliable plumber to fix my showers mixing valve. The valve is very stiff and the temperature goes hot to cold sporadically.

colin cliffe on Customers First at CEC

21st March 2021 @ 10:52am

The putting customers first initiative doesn't mean anything will get any better, it just means that this useless rabble of incompetents will tell you much quicker that they can't do anything about it, no matter what it is you want doing. Oh, and by the way, the massive pothole in Paddock Lane is coming back despite being REPAIRED twice in the last 12 months. I shall report it again, I am sure they will be out straight away and conduct a permanent repair now they are putting us first
