Thanks to Mr Bricknell for his remarks re the airport style lighting around the Lyme wood / McCarthy and stone development. As a neighbour to this development and Mr Reynolds, representations have been made to both the planners who approved the design and the management of the facility. To no avail. For context since it's inception we have had the tower crane phase, the weekend working phase, the floodlighting pointing at our houses phase and now the runway lighting phase. So any help with the visual intrusion would be welcome.
We live in a small hamlet and had been looking forward to the dark, starry nights when we moved here. Found out on our first night that there is an, at least 5ft, orange streetlight on the corner shining into the master bedroom all night. In all honesty cannot see the reason for it being there.
Lighting anywhere, rural, suburban or in a city should be looked at again in the current climate. Much of the lighting that is around at present will have been installed well before climate change became an issue and should be re evaluated.
Reductio ad absurdum works better for mathematical problems than light pollution problems.
Well Rosemary, there is only one thing to say after your caustic comment re the lights at night – MEEEEEOW!
I believe that Mr. Reynolds is a neighbour of Lyme Wood Grange and can understand that he may not be happy with the nighttime security lighting here. However, it is ironic that he appears to be a chimney sweep thus professionally facilitating the use of fossil fuels and increased pollution by open fires.
It may be that something could be done to reduce the light pollution but the use of sarcasm and or irony to make the point is hardly going to facilitate cooperation. Perhaps dialogue with the local management might be more productive, it certainly could not be less so. I am a resident of the development and would rather we had a pleasant relationship with our neighbours. This is hardly the best route to that end.
It is very necessary to have lights on in and around farm buildings at night. There are many farms where evening milking takes place and where the milk tanker will call to collect the milk. Lights on in the sheds will also prevent cows treading on the calves who are asleep in the deep straw. Perhaps this has never occurred to non farming people.
Yes I propose an all out blackout law at night, please draw all curtains and duct tape your headlights please.
As for farmers, please switch off all lights and hope that undesirables don't use the undercover of darkness to steal from you, as for motion detectors, please tell the cows to stop moving and stay in their beds
I would like to endorse Ian's comment about lights on all night. There seems to be a fashion to make your house visible with up lighters, downlighters etc. Not only is this wasting precious energy, at increasing cost but is very annoying when those interested in the night sky which to observe a comet or similar. There is also a farm on my horizon with lights which dazzle although it must be half a mile away.
Does anyone know why the A529 was closed today
Used for our first time the go-too bus service.
Brilliant!
Easy to use, lovely drivers, clean new buses, prompt service.
Excellent especially as ' other half' on crutches at the moment and can't drive😳.
Will definitely use again.
We went from Emberton Place to Nantwich.
A chat bench is a lovely idea, but I'll have to admit that the first thought that entered my head is, isn't every bench in the village a chat bench? :-)
Hi
I wonder if anyone had considered making one of the benches in the village a "chat bench".
A tool to combat loneliness a "happy to chat bench" has been used in some locations as a simple way to get people talking, who may not be confident to kick-start a conversation with a stranger.. Perhaps I should've mentioned this in the summer!

Audlem is a small village but is a centre of a massive agro-Industrial complex supplying dairy products which is great but the downside is these enormous tractors have to navigate these village type roads. Some drivers are considerate but many consider the public highway as a personal farm track extension. Someday there is going to be one hell of accident I just hope their employers have good insurance.
I think it's more then clear that the the council has gone through a lot of change in the last couple of weeks. We have been quite open about the issues and the plan we now have to resolve them it's very easy to make comment but we are now taking action
Kind regards
James McGregor
It Is only a matter of time Hollie, an accident is going to happen and when it does it will be serious. Audlem roads were never built to accommodate such large vehicles, particularly massive tractors pulling huge trailers at excessive speeds. I believe that a 20MPH speed limit was proposed through our Village some time ago which would apply to all vehicles and we need it NOW before someone is seriously injured. Come on APC do your job and put some effort into this, it is long overdue.
Hi listen to the church bells being rung tonight.
Who would we contact with regards to joining in?
Cheers
Question to council ; why has it taken the 8 weeks to decide to investigate , a huge amount of money going out of their account , then being put back :
Hackers don't take it then give back do they ???
Hello, we are about to renew our current LPG Contract, can anyone recommend a good, fair priced supplier please?
About 20 minutes ago I was driving to work along the Woore Road, just past the Baptist Church, when a tractor came pelting towards me taking up half of my side of the road. I have never been so frightened and immediately pulled my car up onto the pavement, only just missing it. Had I not, I don't think I'd still be alive! I didn't get a good look at the tractor, all I know is that was very large and I believe it was green with a red trailer. I work on Paddock lane and I hate to sound like a moaner, but tractor drivers are constantly driving up and down so fast that it is frightening. I'm worried that this is going to cause a terrible accident one day that could be mitigated if they just drove with more awareness.
Hi Vanessa, sorry for the late reply we've been away for a few days! 😬 Email me on cindycliffe1@gmail.com and we'll sort delivery or pick up. 😊
received today an email with subject line NHS COVID-Pass-GOV.CO.UK telling me that i was being offered an appt to get one and I had to click on the link within 24 hours. I am so cross that these scammers are using this sort of thing as an opportunity.......as far as I know I can ring 119 anytime and get the document confirming my vaccination. The sender address was nothing official, it has now been deleted but please be on the look out......
Perhaps if they spent more wisely, stopped being so over ambitious and kept to basics might help, like many parishioners have done.
Hi Garry – if you've still got them i can come and pick them up. – ed how can i contact direct?
