It's really good to see this. I've been a keen user of the public footpaths over the years and could never understand why these seemed to end abruptly. Well done Peter.
The paths also seem to be showing on OSM already – I wonder how long OS will take to update?

I was reluctant to wade into this issue any further re Normans argie bargey with the authorities at Swanbach but I believe that the council are now knee-deep in correspondence after being flooded with complaints and can no longer duck the issue. Having previously claimed that their coffers were drained and they couldn't a ford to attend to the problem it is now believed that they will splash the cash and about March time a specialist company from Leek will come and look into the problem, on reflection I ponder river this could have been done sooner. They say that the repairs are to be streamed online, I'm going to take a punt and say it's much more likely that the council will take an early bath and pull the plug on this ferry contentious project, I don't know why I think that, I just have this titanic sinking feeling,,,,,, or am I going around the bend?

Well done Peter – this success required a lot of effort and tenacity. I really like Geraint's suggestion of a group walk to celebrate the result!!!

What a super, interesting article by Judy on the history of the shop from its origins 160 years ago. Congratulations Judy on the anniversary of the founding of Williams' wonderful village amenity.

I would also like to thank Peter for his tenacity in finding the evidence and pursuing the case to a successful conclusion. It used to be a lovely circular walk from Bagley lane and back along the canal.

To whoever is responsible for taking the goody bag of sweets that I left out for our grey bin collectors (on Shropshire Street) – you are the garbage of life. I feel sad that your parents did such a rubbish job of bringing you up Shame on you.

Geraint Davies on Adderley Footpath Achievement

1st January 2022 @ 8:55am

Many congratulations to Peter Kay in achieving the official recognition of the Adderley footpath after so many years of effort. As one who was a member of the Ramblers 'Association for many years, I salute the incredible patience and perseverance that he has dedicated to this project over so many years. To celebrate this achievement, do you think a 'mass' rally in the Spring of all the local Ramblers Associations along the length of the path past Pool House would be a good way to celebrate it?

Support for Action on Swanbach Flooding Noted from Minutes of Adderley Parish Council meeting on 8th December 2021

Highways & Environmental Health – The Council discussed the problems with flooding on the A529 between
Adderley and Audlem at Swanbach which is in Audlem's parish and comes under Cheshire East. There are a lot
of residents from Adderley who use this road daily and the Council have safety concerns for smaller, and
sometimes bigger, cars as the flooding is extensive and the depth cannot be judged. It was agreed that the
Clerk will liaise with the Audlem Clerk to offer any support Adderley Parish Council can in trying to resolve this
matter.

Hopefully the more support the better to resolve this issue.

Adrain Davies on Adderley Lights

31st December 2021 @ 10:22am

From what I hear the problem is that the council can't get access to the land adjacent to the road to effect whatever repairs are necessary and there's a stalemate over it. Don't expect anything to change anytime soon.

Well said Joe. At the risk of going slightly 'off topic' but staying in a similar vein; If the head of The Environment Agency lived in my house, I bet he/she wouldn't put up with the constant flooding I get here year after year and more than once a year. Back on topic; I hope the flooding at the Bridge gets sorted. It's been like that for far too long now.

Anyone know what happened to the grey bin collection today? Has the Cheshire-East Highways Department taken over refuse collection?

ken lee on Backing Norman

I quite agree Joe, things would have happened by now. Is filling the cutting in again and resurfacing an option as no doubt it was dug out originally by the railways in the first place creating this problem, then Norman could have his lifebuoy back. I believe there could be plenty of hardcore available from the Houses of Parliament soon as it is falling apart more than originally thought.
This would then save on the ongoing costs of safety inspections and repairs on the existing brickwork of the bridge.

I wonder just how long it would take to repair Swanbach ford drain if the Chief Executive Officer of Cheshire East Council had to negotiate the flooded road each day to work ? I am certain proper repairs would be effected rapidly with no excuses ...

claire on Sheep worrying

28th December 2021 @ 4:20pm

Dog walkers please be aware that there are some sheep in a pen next to the footpath that goes through the fields behind Salford. The dogs can get through to this field quite easily down by the gate, the sheep are up the hill on the right hand side in a pen so not that easy to see from the footpath. Our dog was playing around at the bottom of the hill in this field (they can easily get under the barb wire in this area) when the owner of the sheep threatened to shoot her because another dog had worried one of his sheep to death. She was not chasing the sheep, luckily she came back to us in time before he went inside the house to get his gun. We have lived on Salford for 8 years and have always walked our dogs in the field behind Salford but we never experienced anything like this before so please be aware.

I'd like to add another group to The Medical Practice and Boots mentioned earlier. That's care workers. Since earlier this year we've needed help as my wife's MND has progressed and we've been blessed to have the support of a number of domiciliary care workers. Currently we're supported by the staff and management of a wonderful company called Surecare who provide a lot of cover around Audlem. Their carers are always cheerful and so kind and often go out of their way to provide a little extra. They also can work some pretty grueling hours but are always on time and attentive. We'd be in a real pickle without them.
I'd also like to mention the people of ADCA who have given us invaluable support – it's a testament to the kindness of the people of Audlem.
There's also a few individuals (I won't name you, but you know who you are) who have stepped in to help, bringing prescriptions, shopping and even fish & chips which I can't get out for myself.
A big thank you to you all

To be fair, Colin, it now will only take you three clicks to report the Paddock Lane potholes in future. That should save you a lot of time over the year.

bob fousert on Misogyny – What about Misandry?

26th December 2021 @ 2:26pm

Looking at what is available in the sales (can't you tell I'm already bored with Xmas andTV) and following recent coments on Chatbox raising the issue of Misogyny, it brought to mind how misandric (is there such a word?) the retail industry is. Just looked at the Next figures for items currently in the sales for example. Women's items 13,982; men's items a paltry 1,228! And have you noticed that in many department stores ladies clothes and accessories generally cover the whole of the ground floor whilst the men have to go up a floor at least to try to find the items for them that are usually crammed into one corner of the shop. Gent's, just bear this in mind the next time a woman says to you "it's a man's world!"
