May I draw attention please to planning application 21/3505N – proposed wedding venue at The Parkes, Monks Lane. Includes an outside marquee with dancefloor from April through to September, capacity 200-300 guests, potentially until midnight but operating hours until 1am. Increased traffic volumes anticipated. A small number of the closest households/businesses received a consultation letter on Friday but this may be of wider interest, hence this post. Closing date for comments 4th August 2021.

Hello – I was just wondering if the civic centre still hosts the rug sale from time to time and if so when the next one might be?
Kind regards

Anybody recommend a roofer who will fit a Galvanised Wire Balloon Guard on a Chimney please
@Paul Cawood – It's not the "normal" movement of tractors and associated machinery that is considered to be a threat – it is the abnormal and irresponsible way that some of these vehicles are driven that is the issue. Nobody is suggesting that ALL of the vehicles are driven badly or dangerously, but clearly there are a (hopefully small) proportion of drivers who creat the problems that continue to be reported via this website. To make village and rural life in the area tolerable (and infinitely safer) the shift in perception needs to take place in the minds of those drivers.
Hi Dave I have messaged you on FB
My grandson has lost one I have stated which ear .
Re "speeding" agricultural vehicles. We live in a village that thrives because of the agricultural community and those of us that work in it. It's sad that the normal movement of tractors and spreaders is perceived as being a threat. This is a necessary part of the working day in the agricultural world. I would suggest a shift in perception will make life in the village more tolerable.
So the geniuses at Shropshire Highways have advised that 2+ yrs on the works have been delayed.
Where would we all be without these informative public servants?
How smart and tidy is our village after Neil and his teams efforts yesterday. Couldn't help thinking perhaps a good place for the 20 year olds to volunteer for Neil's team . Be a good start for them . I'm sure Neil and his team would make them welcome.
Hello Sheila, thanks so much, will drop them off Saturday.
Yesterday about 5 pm I was walking along Cheshire Street near Heathfield Green towards the shops where the pavement is narrow. A large green tractor came hurtling towards me towing a muck spreader and clods of earth and goodness knows what were being thrown out in all directions. I wasn't hit by anything miraculously but was very shaken. I turned to see the number plate but it was obscured by mud. Pedestrians in the middle of a village should not be threatened in this way by speeding agricultural vehicles.
The chequered flag might be out, but I have noticed that several tractor drivers are on their mobile phones obviously checking race strategy with their bases! Formula 1 tactics have arrived.
Marilyn, Thank you for your enquiry re charity shop opening times. At present we are only open on Saturdays (weather permitting) from 10-4 and we will happily accept donations between those hours. Due to lack of space, we cannot accept large items of furniture I'm afraid.
I Agee with all the comments. I live on Longhill Lane and have bought a checkered flag so that the tractors, lorries and cars can get an indication of what position they are in the race
Hi I found an AirPod near the canal bridge near the bridge pub, let me know on this chat if it's yours and I'll get it to you ( I can only imagine how irritating it must be to loose one AirPod!)
Hello, could somebody tell me what days the charity shop accepts donations please, or it's opening times?
Thank you.
Have fun in Turnpike Field, but be aware that the hedges/fences that border Green Lane and Whitchurch Road are not dog-proof. So if your daughter's dog is of the houdini variety, don't let it off in the top section of the field.
Lucky Buerton having such monitoring in a 40 mph zone! Just 0.5 mile away in Chapel End we have the national speed limit even through the busy blind spot of the Long Hill Lane/Kettle Lane crossing. 40 MPH limit would be great here and perhaps the cops would start to actually monitor this death trap zone.
Any recommendations please to measure and fit vertical blinds.
Hankelow area.
We need someone to cut down the grass on 2 small paddocks approx 1/4 and 3/4 acres . Can anyone recommend?
Thank you
Thank you Suzie for your welcome and directions to the turnpike and playing field. Our daughter is visiting from Scotland in a few days time and we've been wondering where we can walk safely with her small dog. These areas sound perfect. Many thanks. Carol
