Hello,
In rsponse to Celia, Jimmy was actually my great-grandfather.
His son was Sam.
Jimmy served in the First World War and was taken as POW but survived and returned to the area.
His older brothers George and James died many years before in a mining accident at Diglake Colliery.
It would be very interesting if you could tell me what Jimmy was like and what he liked to talk about.
Unfortunately, he led a life marred by drink thus ending up living in a caravan.
Best,
Tracey.
Thanks to Celia and Suzie for your advice, we'll take them into Nantwich!
For garden landscaping try Pure Ground – Roger Wilcox – contact no. 07527-136054. Web site www.puregroundss.co.uk.
Local company based in Monks Lane. He has done several jobs for us, excellent work and comes when he says he will.
Timpsons in Nantwich square do it. There was an offer on that 2nd and subsequent ones were half price.
Hi Kate
We had a load done at Timpson's in Nantwich. Service was good, but can't recall the price, sorry.
My parents have a load of family home movies on VHS tapes. I wondered if anyone knows of anywhere local that can put these into something digital, please?
There are places to send them away to, but they are irreplaceable so we would rather not post them.
Thanks!

Can anyone recommend a garden landscaping company? We have a number of projects that we would like done (patio, fencing, vegetable boxes).
Thank you very much.
Having just taken on a lovely lady within Audlem, I now just have an early morning slot available on a Monday 9-11am to assist with breakfast, doctors appointments (accompany and drive). Cooking a meal for later in the day, either lunch or dinner. Other availability Wednesdays between 4.45-6.45 or Fridays between 8.30-10.30. Excellent references from long standing clients. Please contact Julie on 07467 587456 to discuss your requirements in detail. Thank you for reading.

Hi,
How do we book for Santa's grotto on the 26th
I've recently moved back to Audlem after a 20 year absence and wanted to say hello. I'm thrilled to be back in the village (even though, as the archetypal, ungrateful teenager, I couldn't wait to move away) and I look forward to re-orientating myself and getting stuck back into village life. =)
Ta-ta for now!
We walk often along the canal and have spotted kingfishers many times in the last twenty years....and certainly much more frequently in the last 2 or 3 years. Usually between the village and Coxbank.
Could anyone recommend a company to remove a wasps nest from our house please?
Not a fan. However I must apologise to the well organised group who called last night. I was feeling really low and unwell and I should not have answered the door , as on rent collection days in my distant youth.
I hope I didn't spoil the outing with my churlish response.
Also hope you were all home before the weather turned.
Now what to do with the chocolate.
The picture of the two Kingfishers arrived on AOL bout 3-4 days after a Kingfisher was seen on my pond. The first for many years. Hopefully the Cox bank resident Kingfishers are breeding and thus extending their range down toward the village.
Chris
Thanks to those who have contacted me about Jimmy Pover, several people clearly remember him. Expect you would be moved on now if you tried to live on the moss, gather he was a mole catcher, drove animals to the markets and I expect followed other country pursuits.
Great story from Ralph this morning – almost up there with his riveting tale of his train journey to Wigan a couple of years back.
Someone showed me a nature picture of a bird he'd seen whilst on holiday on the beach in Ibiza. I asked him if I could have a copy for Audlem Online, but he refused saying it's not the sort of thing he thought you'd publish.
Re Celia Bloor Jimmy Pover, I spent many hours chatting and learning from Jimmy Pover in the early 1950s. He lived in an old wooden caravan on Long hill moss which at that time was the new council rubbish tip, having moved from Bunsly Bank, I believe he had a brother Sam.
Hello,
Can I ask when people are planning on taking their children trick or treating this year? Are parents planning to take them on Saturday? Or Sunday?
Also, is it houses that are decorated and or a lit pumpkin that are taking part?
Thanks
Just a suggestion, to help with Celia's request to try to find someone who may have known the retired drover who settled in Hankelow, in the Welsh custom could he perhaps have been better known as Pover the Drover?
I have just been told that a retired drover named Jimmy Pover lived in Hankelow. Does anyone remember talking to him or could ask one of the village's older residents if they knew him?
Hi
Not long moved into area (buerton) and we love it, I am a keen metal detectorist and have managed to gain permission from a few of the farmers around here to detect their fields but was wondering if anybody knows who owns the 3 big fields in Wood orchard lane with the big depression running through?
Any information or contact details would be appreciated
I know the job isn't finished yet but the end is in sight and I would like to say how well this nigh on impossible task is being done. The organisation, minimal disruption and helpfulness of everyone involved is exceptional.
Look on the bright side, the lorries will be so much quieter going through the village and thank your lucky stars for being in a village in Cheshire and not Cornwall.
