AUDLEM! What a place to live!

I lost my house key up the canal late on Sunday afternoon. At 5PM I posted a 'lost' notice on AudlemOnline's Lost/Found page.
At 7.50AM on Monday morning I went to pick up my paper at Williams' and Judy handed me my key! Amazing.
Very many thanks to the person who found it and handed it in.

I can only repeat, "What a place to live!"

Just a quick shout out for Audlem resident Alex who has just started putting on walking football sessions for those of ..... eerrmmm .... a certain age. Great fun to be active in the sunshine and highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun way to excercise with friends. And I wasn't the only woman!

We were very sad to hear about losing George at the Chippy, just can't believe it, I was only chatting away & joking with him last week. Our hearts go out to Ali and all his family and friends. George was a lovely chap and will be a terrible loss for the village.

One more thought on this subject, if the hearse had been seen to be passing the wagon on the inside was the undertaking undertaker undertaking?

Of course, there could be another reason (as a mate has pointed out) The truck driver could have indicated or waved the Hearse to overtake so that he wouldn't be delayed perhaps. I'm going to go with that. It seems the more likely explanation perhaps. It still doesn't make it less strange to see a Hearse overtake something though....usually it's the other way round if anything. ;-)

Hi Bill, I think that this undertaker has probably only just taken over this undertaking business and when you saw the overtaking being undertaken by the undertaker he was probably running late for his latest undertaking and having only just taken over that's why the undertaker undertook such risky overtaking? What do you fink?

What a heart rendering account of what is a both a personal, and national tragedy. Nobody could feel anything but immense sympathy for the Pyishnyi family. So thankful that the community of Audlem could help – albeit in a very small way – though sometimes it's the small things can actually turn out to make the most difference. Our thoughts are with the family and those that remain in Ukraine. I feel reluctant to suggest making yet another village collect, when people have already given for so many worthy causes lately, but if anyone is as moved as I was by this harrowing account, then I am more than happy to take donations for the Pyishnyi family, and pass them on via the Baptist Chapel. I thought I'd seen everything in my 65 years of living in Audlem but what I've just seen is amongst the strangest.
A Hearse...yes, a Hearse.....attempting to overtake an Artic Truck on Green Lane (or, thanks to the advertising sign obstructing the road sign; 'Green') heading in the Swanbach direction. I'm going to resist all the obvious puns. Ironically though; the Truck it was trying to overtake was a Beer ( Bier) Truck. You really couldn't make this stuff up could you? Although, in case you think I have; it's on my CCTV footage for all you non-believers out there which, considering the risks some drivers take, I bet there's not many of you.

Reference the unusual building the Ramblers spotted while walking across Lipley Farm, near Bishop's Wood, Cheswardine, it belongs to The Pendlebury family of Lipley Farm. For many years it was a ruin but then the owners decided to restore it and let out as a holiday home. Googling holiday lets in the Cheswardine, Market Drayton area might give you the answer.

I wish to endorse the well-deserved tributes paid to Gavin. He has done a wonderful job in keeping the village in good order and has been a significant contributor to the many Britian in Bloom trophies won by Audlem. He always has a kind word to say to passers-by and has taken great pride in his role. A trusty guardian of his realm. You will be a very hard act to follow, Gavin, but enjoy your well-deserved freedom.

In particular my husband and I will have to stop losing things.....twice we have been saved by Gavin keeping things safe until claimed!!! Thanks again.

I would like to thank Gavin for all the hard work that he has done for the last two decades. He is always cheery and gets on with his work for the Parish Council in an unassuming way. A lot of people may take the cleanliness of the village for granted, but without Gavin's efforts things would be a lot different. Enjoy your retirement, Gavin.

Good morning. I was interested to read that Gavin Davies has decided to retire from his valuable and vital work in the village. I for one would like to say a big thank you to Gavin for the work he has done for the village over the last 20 years or so, in keeping the village spic and span. If you see Gavin in the house of his labours he always has a smile and a wave and a few words if he has time. I am sure that there are many other residents and visitors to Audlem that would join me in saying a big thank you and the very best of luck and health for the future. Gavin will be a hard act to follow.

Thanks for providing a great service Gavin and all the while, with a smile on your face. From a ex-road sweeper to a soon to be ex-roadsweeper, I know how difficult that can be sometimes. I wish you well in whatever you do next.

Does anyone know where I can get a bulk delivery of compost locally around Audlem? I want about 3 to 5 ton.

Some kind soul decided to adopt our grey wheelie bin after Mondays collection! Has anyone else locally suffered a similar fate?

I have lots of wild garlic you could have. I will be in Audlem on Wednesday morning and Saturday morning and could bring some for you to collect
