Well done Brian ,however whatever happened to the Saint George Flag . After all it is the Church of England .

Brian Bugeja on Village flag on Audlem Church Tower

30th January 2022 @ 3:19pm

I have just taken the flag down, and as a precaution from incoming storms, I have decided not to put another one up for at least the next two weeks.

The net at the edge of the flag, on the one taken down, was starting to come loose. Once the net goes, the next to tear would be the flag. Storms tend not to be very kind to flags, and we did get a few of the flags damaged in some of the storms last winter. Hence, in light of incoming storms, I have decided not to hoist another one up.

Each of the flags damaged last year were kindly repaired by Olive, and once again this time, Olive has offered to re-attach the net to the flag.

Thanks.

Marilyn Paxton on Recommendations Roof Tile Cleaning

28th January 2022 @ 12:09pm

Hi, we require the roof ridge tiles on a 3 storey town house to be repointed, and the roof tiles to be cleaned...scraped not jet washed, plus a small portico roof above the front door.
If anyone can recommend a suitable contractor that would be great and much appreciated.
Thank you.

Elizabeth I think that Ken was referring to my chatbox post a few days ago. At that time the rules explanation which John had written when he programmed the game and put it up had not been put online.
In response to another post I think John did put up some explanations for all the games he programmed for Audlem Online That was some time ago but I would willingly try to explain if still needed. He is a little bit busy at the moment. Our daughters prompted him to makr available the Cows and Bulls he wrote which is proving to be another distraction for some of our games addicted grandchildren.

Jeff Price on Agricultural land development

28th January 2022 @ 9:24am

Thanks Lesley for your informative post. I have to say, like many others, with the amount of work on that field and the amount of mud left on the road, I had assumed that whatever development was going on had already received planning permission. This is evidently not the case and planning permission has not been given. The fact that the plans indicate that a new road from the farm will exit on to the A529 at the bottom of the field is perhaps an issue worth considering in relation to safety and speed limits. The other interesting aspect of the plans for me was that the landowner states in the plans that the footpath which begins at the bottom of the field is 'unacceptable'. We have seen recently how difficult it is to restore a footpath blocked by a landowner and surely it is up to the community and its representatives to decide over the acceptability of a public footpath and right of way not a single individual.

Ken said 'well explained' . Have I missed something? Were the rules explained somewhere?

Well explained Ann, perhaps you should re-write and simplify rules for other games as many are more complicated than the games themselves. Someone connected with television has re-created the game, called it Lingo and earned themselves a few quid for doing it and also for some contestants as well.

Hello,
Are you concerned about the large scale work currently occurring in the field by the dip near Corbrook Court Nursing Home on the main Hankelow to Audlem road?
Take a walk on the footpath to get acquainted with what is going on perhaps?
An extraordinary meeting has been scheduled by Hankelow Parish Committee on Tuesday 1st February at 7pm at the Hankelow Chapel Sunday School Room.
Come along if you wish to find out more and be informed. Your viewpoint can be shared.
Planning application by land owner Mr Adrian Hulme can be seen and your views can be lodged by visiting Cheshire East Planning Applications on line. Reference 22/0111N
Concerns of an Environmental nature should be directed to the Environment Agency-Gov.U.K. Website, report an environmental incident. Easting 366831 Northing 345525

At the risk of appearing a bit dumb, I would like an explanation of the rules for the sudokus too please. I do the standard one every day and the day is ruined on the odd occasion it is not working. Although, I now spend between 9 and 20 minutes doing the one sudoku, if I knew how to do the others it could mean another hour hour with my feet up!!

Mr Peter C Morgan on Light Entertainment

26th January 2022 @ 10:26pm

Walking the dog earlier than usual on Wednesday morning whilst still dark, I saw for a period of about five minutes or so just after seven, a display of moving balls of lights in the sky at a low angle to the north over Crewe direction. The cloud base was low and I concluded that it was probably someone with a laser display reflected off the cloud base. Having previously seen the northern lights it was certainly nothing of the same ilk. I then read in this weeks Chronicle of strange lights recently seen over Middlewich which is food for thought. I have a video of the lights but unfortunately it is not very clear. If it was a laser display it would be useful to have it confirmed. Meanwhile, keep an eye on the northern skies to see if there are further sightings.

took bulls to mean bullseye but cow is obscure-copying wordle?

Ann Tilling on Cows And Bulls

26th January 2022 @ 5:30pm

Andy a cow is a letter in the word but not in the correct place. A bull is in the correct place. If it is as i used to play with the ed the word is a five letter word with no repeated letters. Hope this helps.
I found Wordle online hard at first because of the American spellings, honor etc, and repeated letters b eing possible.

Like the new word game, although the editor has removed the cheat from the prototype I tried. Makes it much more difficult, got it in eight today. An explanation of the rules might be a good idea because I've never come across it before.

Thanks for the replies. There is also the possibility of CCTV! Def agree with the idea of distance on the signs, from this end it is easy to stop at the barrier and turn round. Enjoy the peace and quiet and safer cycling!
