Who knew that the under 13s of the village are partial to the odd bingo game?

This was an endearingly 'odd' bingo game, due, in no small part to the inappropriately sultry tones of the female caller on the free bingo calling app we used. She was beautifully amplified mind you, with the help of the Youth Club blue tooth speaker, and kept saying inexpressibly bonkers stuff like "22, Danny La Rue' & "30, Dirty Gertie', or the more astutely observed, '19, Bye Bye Teens'. Oh, how we laughed.

A Cadbury's cream egg for a line and a whole Easter egg for a full house. Proceedings were a trifle truncated when two players called 'house" at the same time, but, two Easter eggs down, we nimbly recovered and showed astounding resourcefulness in using an entire box of 5 Cadbury's cream eggs as top prize on the following game.

The evening was rounded off with a few good old retro board games, donated courtesy of Ken Lee (big thanks Ken). I don't think I was born when most of them were in popular use (phnarr, phnarr), but I will say that Monique showed more than a passing acquaintance with most of them. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions about a misspent youth during the gaslight years.

One could say the triumph of the evening was when Gin produced a pack of cards with a practised flourish and with Pied Piperesque aplomb drew a small crowd of girls (and me and Monique who might still pass as girls) into multiple games of 'Cheat' and 'Chase the Ace'. She's clearly no stranger to the green baize table.

This week, chums, we are delighted and excited to announce that our very own village Dry Cleaner, former Pop Star and football legend Mr Sevi Gultekin, or Jay's Dad to his friends, will be coming along to teach a few football tricks and skills to whomsoever would like to have a go.

Not into footie? Monique has got something crafty up her sleeve. Not into crafty? Toast, tuck, music and free fruit. You lucky, lucky people. Wednesday 9th March, The Baptist Chapel, 7pm.
