Cricket Report

On Sunday Audlem made the short trip to Hodnet and Peplow as guest opposition in their annual President's day game.

Hodnet elected to bat first in glorious sunny conditions but found runs hard to come by despite good starts from a number of batsmen the bowlers held the upper hand led by returning Tom Jackson who is now fully recovered from a foot operation.

Tom bowled his best spell for the club ably backed up by the whole team who were invited to 'turn their arm over' as the hosts were finally dismissed for 182 in the 39th over.

After tucking into a delicious spread provided by the hosts Audlem set about the task of chasing down the target with the Cottrell brothers given the opportunity to open the batting for the first time against a lively bowling attack.

James survived the initial burst and went on to construct a fine partnership with Irfan Shaik to put the visitors in a strong position. Contributions from Isaak Goodall, Jake Topping & Bertie Hardy ensured Audlem were able to chase down the target with the loss of 4 wickets with overs to spare.

The game was followed by the much-anticipated raffle with some excellent prizes on offer with the visiting players and supporters claiming their share.

The Saturday X1 were without a game the previous day due to their scheduled opponent's (Stafford CC) ground being used for a county fixture which means next weekend they will have a 'double header' when they travel to Hem Heath on Saturday then the following day play at Stafford.

The Sunday X1 are back at The Gorse Croft where they welcome Wellington CC from Shropshire with a 1.00pm scheduled start.
