...or never felt confident with singing?

My name is Geraldine Leighton and, as an Honorary Research Fellow at Keele University and a music teacher, I am currently carrying out a small research project looking at how people with little or no musical training learn a new song.

What sort of people do I need?

  • Female volunteers with normal hearing, to compare with participants who have become deaf in later life.
  • Aged between 50 and 70
  • Living within about 5 miles of Audlem
  • Have not had singing or musical instrument lessons (other than in school class music lessons), nor learned to read music nor sung in a choir as an adult.

If you meet these requirements, I would like to hear from you!

What will you gain from taking part?

Free, individual 'music lessons', taking place over the equivalent time of about 1 ½ terms, focused on developing your musical listening and singing skills, as well as raising your confidence in your singing. Sessions arranged for mutual convenience.

Additionally, by your participation, you will be providing information that will help our understanding of how those who have become deaf might differ from those with normal hearing in the way they learn new songs.

We will pay your travelling expenses for each session you attend in Audlem.

If you think you might be interested taking part and would like to know further details, with no obligation, please contact me with your name and contact details:-
