Audlem’s Sunday XI lost their unbeaten start to the season with a comprehensive defeat by Davenham, as the home team were thoroughly outplayed in each area of the game.  The only batsman to reach double figures was Paul Thorburn, who scored 45 out of a total of only 106 all out.  No one else reached double figures.

In their reply Davenham scored 109 for the loss of only three wickets in less than eighteen overs. Their number three batsman, Chris Holt, scored 47 not out at a rate well above a run a ball. It was hardly surprising as none of the Audlem bowlers did particularly well, except Lyndon Woodcock who took 1 for 1 in his solitary over.

Despite the home team being soundly beaten, the spirit of Sunday cricket shone through as the match was played with a great degree of sportmanship.

The next friendly Sunday match is not until July 8th, when Aston will be the visitors.  However, just a reminder that the 2nd XI are in action next Sunday in the 2nd XI Knockout Cup, when the visitors will be Port Sunlight.  The match starts at 1.30 pm.
