The Audlem Tourist and Traders Groups initiated a scheme a few weeks ago to try to make a small improvement to the parking situation in the centre of the village.
The scheme is based on the idea that parking spaces could be identified within the more central part of the village where there are individual spaces which are not used at the critical weekday times – perhaps part of a driveway.
Then these would be matched with specific traders who would then use that space during the working day instead of taking up a space on the main Car Park. See herefor the full original article.
Since then, Joe Hoyles has received offers of eight specific spaces, five of which have turned out to be suitable for the scheme, and these are now being used. So far, therefore, the scheme has freed up five spaces in the village, but more to the point has proven to be a practical proposition.
So thanks to all those who responded – perhaps there are others out there who thought that the scheme would not get off the ground but who might now come forward with more possibilities – if so please let Joe know – the more the better.
