Saturday at the Festival

It starts at 10.00am and runs until late this evening, the 3rd Day of the Audlem Festival sees an amazing array of talent to suit all tastes.

It's also the first day of the Art exhibition in the Methodist Church Hall.

The music programme has old friends coming back and new talent too. It promises to be a great day.

10.00am – Back Row Plus
Scout & Guide Hall
Close-harmonys, old and new favourites, humorous songs (-not forgetting the props!) and more. Music from many countries (including Scotland!) played on hurdy-gurdies, fiddles, recorders, crumhorns, guitars etc.

12:00pm – Bickerton Youth Music Group
The Lord Combermere
A bright, friendly collective of young musicians across various line-ups, borne out of Darren Poyzer's youth music gatherings. The group attracts up to 20 young people from the age of 11 to 18 years interested in making music with guitars, piano, drums, vocals or other instruments.

12:30pm – The Love Music Trust Youth Sinfonia
The Bridge Inn
Start your Saturday with some splendid string music performed by The Love Music Trust Youth Sinfonia. Recent repertoire includes Barber's Adagio and Bach's Concerto for two violins. A gentle warm up for a day of excellent music.

These festival favourites are back with their special brand of a cappella songs from around the world.

1:00pm – FunkBreakers
The Lord Combermere
Pull up your Funkadelic trousers and get on round to the Comba for a serious chunk of funk. The FunkBreakers bring together some alarmingly talented musicians who never fail to lay down some dangerously good grooves.

A mix of folk poetry, musical healing and nonsense is delivered by the auld alliance of Brian, Peter and Jann, possibly with a few hangers on, delivering a selection of their original songs including 'Dulce et decorum est' celebrating 100 years of idiocy....and a couple of covers just for the hell of it.

Popular Shrewsbury based Skiffle Quartet features classical lead guitar, double bass and a lovely pair of congas. A wonderfully lively way to kick off your Saturday morning with a swing. You'll recognise the tunes, but you'll have never heard them like this before!

2:00pm – Stapeley Broad Lane Choir
St James Church
Enjoy a musical stroll through some chorale favourites sung by a collection of enthusiastic young musicians from Stapeley Broad Lane. This choir will entertain you with a selection of classic memorable numbers with a few surprises thrown in.

2:00pm – Sammi Eleston
The Shroppie Fly
From Newport, Shropshire Sammi and her band are set to make rst and lasting impressions this year, as if she didn't last year here at Audlem. After recording with the band earlier this year at Audlem's Hollow Floor Studios, they are ready to showcase their talent around the UK.

2:30pm – Heidi Browne
The Lord Combermere
Singer/Songwriter Heidi Browne is a BBC Introducing Pick for 2013, who in early 2014 was crowned the overall winner of OpenMicUK. She was also shortlisted for Jamie Cullum's Big Audition in 2011 and has released two albums of original songs which have been featured on BBC 6Music, Amazing Radio and a host of regional stations.

3:00pm – The Nukes

More rock and roll than Music Hall or Tiny Tim,these ukuleles ROCK! Blistering live sets take in numbers from as wide range of artists as Paul Simon to Radiohead, ACDC to Santana and much in between. If you've not seen the Nukes before get yourself down to the Bridge and enjoy!

3:30pm – Garron Frith
The Shroppie Fly
Has toured with everyone from Peter Green to Imelda May. He's a singer-songwriter with elements of Blues & Folk. The Daily Express called his debut "A Folk Rock gem of an album" – 5 Stars. Check him out at www.garronfrith.co.uk

4:00pm – Jeremiah Ferrari

No party without JF, an energetic four piece that fuse reggae, rock, ska, punk, and more to create a sound influenced by the likes of Bob Marley and Sublime, yet unique enough to call their own.

4:30pm – Crystal Ships

Anyone that had the pleasure of seeing these boys under their former guise Modern Alarms, knows there has long been a sense of something very special has brewing away with this band. Modern Alarms are no longer, Crystal Ships is the new form.

5:00pm – Nantwich Voices Community Choir

A group whose love of music and fun perform popular music, eastern European and African melodies.

5:00pm – Green Smoke Hokum Band
The Shroppie Fly
Expect gypsy-jazz, punk attitude and anthems, madchester dance rhythms, stirring marches and heart rending ballads that will leave you singing along.

6:00pm – Taylor & The Mason Band

As big in Audlem as Manchester, Taylor and the Mason have been pedalling their own brand of folky-acoustic-pop type music, influences vary wildly from Motown, Rock & Roll to Joni Mitchell, an eclectic mix of acoustic sounds and close harmonies.

6:30pm – All Over Nowhere
Bridge Inn
All Over Nowhere are a fun and vibrant five-piece alternative rock band from Market Drayton in Shropshire. They have a small cult following that has been growing for numerous years and they are becoming ever more popular on a national scale.

7:00pm – Memphis Sons
Shroppie Fly
Memphis Sons hail from the Tyne Delta playing vintage Rock 'n Roll and Blues as no others... featuring Richie Young – vocals, Jim Macara and Ceri Payne on guitars.

7:30pm – Audlem Voices
St James Church
Audlem Voices is a mixed choir that was started by Jenny Collis-Smith in January 2008 and now has a diverse range of singers with around 40 members. Enjoy choral classical favourites sung with verve and passion.

8:00pm – Nikki Rous

Nikki Rous sings and plays the guitar. What, you need more? We do? Well she's shared stages with the likes of Supergrass, Roisin Murphy, Level 42, The Pogues, Tom Robinson, Scott Matthews and Nerina Pallot.

8:00pm – Ashley Faith

Canadian singer / songwriter Ashley Faith's whimsical songs are thoughtfully crafted and delivered, but with the simplicity and natural ease "of a clear river over rounded stones" – Robert Singerman – Music Industry Guru

9:00pm – WhiskyHead
Shroppie Fly
Together since 2009, WhiskyHead perform traditional guitar and harmonica covers from such Blues legends as Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac, John Mayall, Cream, Peter Green and Muddy Waters.

9:30pm – Poyzer, Fluff and Farrell

The passion and the conflict, the love in the room, the magic, madness, rabble-rousing excellence, banter and beauty, the added twist of new songs to live and breathe for, fiddle-driven arrangements, progressive improvisations and a power-trio line-up that makes this gathering one of the must-see occasions of the festival.

Full-blooded, invigorating style of folk, infused with elements of punk, rock and theatrical in-yer-face shenanigans. If you have not yet seen them, where have you been?
