Saints pull off another win in final minutes

Audlem U8's football team notched up another victory on Sunday, this time beating Cheshire Blades 2-1. After falling behind to an early goal, the Saints dominated the game. A succession of chances were created but the shooting boots had been left at home!The first period ended with Saints still trailing by one goal to nil. Finally, the Saints were gifted a goal by a mix up in the Blades defence. Once level, the boys settled down and played some neat football, but a particular feature this week was strong tackling from the midfielders and defenders. The winning goal came in the final few minutes and was a well worked move culminating in a low,hard shot into the corner. A wonderful game, played in a good spirit and with a referee just as prepared to coach as he was to enforce the rules – which in an under 8's league is just what is required.
