Mike Harthern, together with Audlem G.P. Russell Muirhead and one of the country's best engine tuners , Steve Hammond formed MSR ( Mike , Steve, Russell) Racing in 1996.

Racing was based on a Honda RS125 GP Racer with Steve and Mike tuning and setting up the bike and Russell riding in the races ( see photo of Russell at Mallory Park).

Sponsorship was generously provide of some £100,000 by Gilks of Nantwich and a race van. Local resident Bill Consterdine, set up the Interior of the Gilks van and was known as the "spanner "man.

Craig jones a local Crewe and Northwhich lad also rode the Honda and subsequently went on to be the 2002 Junior British Superstock Champion, before moving toTriumph and then Fogerty Petronas an the World Superbike championships in 2006. He was killed in tragic accident at the World Supersport race at Brands Hatch in 2008.

Mike then went on to form TECH 2 racing 2001 with engine tuner Steve hammond with Mike doing the bike set up.
Suzuki 600cc and 1000cc bikes were supplied by PIDSTOCK for racing and professional
riders from the Auto Cycle Union Academy Tom Sykes , Cal Critchlow, and later David Jeffries were a key part of the team

All these went on to achieve major success in the Junior and Senior Superstock Championships and the Isle of Man TT races.

It was here that Dave Jeffries died tragically in a high speed accident in a practice session in 2003 after achieving 9 TT Isle of man race wins.
