I think this is the first time I have taken to writing something on AOL, but I would just like to say, that we in Audlem are very lucky.

We have the most professional Dry Cleaners in the North west – Sevie & Michell are extremely good at what they do.

it is not until you lose your wife (who runs the home!) that you appreciate what they do.

The only time I used an Iron, was in 1951 when I joined the Merchant Navy as a junior Officer. 

My mother gave me an iron, to iron my uniform. And a wooden mushroom, and wool to darn my socks.

Audlem Dry Cleaners , have been a lifeline.

And you don't darn socks anymore, you buy them from Judy.

I have managed to conquer the dishwasher, but struggle with all the programs on the washing machine.

I would not know how to work one of these new Irons – in 1951 it was just a flat hot plate!
