Notes from the Parish Council meeting 15th October 2026.

In the public session a question was asked about the current position regarding activity at the old grammar school and any response from CE.

The chair read out two communications received from CE (which he confirmed will be published). In a nutshell the temporary stop notice has new expired, though it seems there is now work taking place at the site currently.

CE are continuing their investigation and would welcome any future information/evidence re activity at the site. This can be sent via the APC.

CE have received a planning application from the developer relating to the removal of hedging and trees. There is no planning application relating to the buildings.

Responding to a request the APC will contact the CE Planning Officer to ask him to attend the next meeting to give their view of the current position.

It was confirmed that the proposed bike track in Turnpike field will be a Bump Track .

APC confirmed they meet the criteria for the General Power of Competence which, amongst other things, leads to better governance and funding options.

The Police report indicated they were monitoring activities at the grammar school. Traffic problems may increase in the village as enforcement cameras are to be deployed at Baddington bridge.

In respect of planning matters, the APC will submit an objection to the planning application for 25 houses off Audlem Road Hankelow. The objections will be along the same lines as the objections to the two larger proposed developments in Audlem as it is believed the impact on the village will be the same.

APC has reviewed the Shavington-cum-Gresty neighbourhood plan which they do not support.

Admin matters re finance were discussed. The bank balance at the end of September was in excess of £100k.

CE Highways – it was reported that gulley cleaning had been carried out in certain parts of the village. Imminent road works and road closures will impact on the village. A step by step guide to reporting dangerous driving is on the APC website.

Turnpike Field – Two new ponds have been created to carry excess water. Himalayan balsam has been removed along the bank of the brook and will be replanted with other plants which will restrict the regrowing of the balsam. Funding was agreed to obtain seeds to plant meadow areas on the field.

The pond dipping platform was agreed. Letters are to be sent out to the various Audlem community groups with a view to having a meeting to discuss their possible engagement with activities on the field. APC want to make the field inclusive for everyone. There was a discussion regarding having a Village Day event on the field. The planning application for the bike track should be ready for the next APC meeting. A number of APC policies were agreed. Sent from my iPhone
