A Chatbox from 'Incompetent' came in yesterday saying:

"Many thanks to Peter Oxley for the alert on this event, which I would not otherwise have known of. We cycled out to Cholmondeley as a result of the postings and it was a superb sight, evoking childhood memories of when they used to practice low level flying over my home.

"More thanks to Peter for the photos as operator error on my part meant little useable material – it would be great if you could post some more Peter. Also thanks to the kind gent we chatted to who kindly e-mailed me some taken with his superb camera – which of course I'm not at liberty to share as they're his."

Peter Oxley was glad to respond and we hope you like the selection, particularly as this will be last opportunity to see the Vulcan locally as it is now very near the end of its flying life – see news stories on Sunday and last Friday for further details.

Peter contacted AudlemOnline to say: "We met dozens of folks parked up close to Cholmondeley on Sunday who said they only knew about the Vulcan after reading about it on AudlemOnline, much like the chatbox poster said!

"It was amazing that it just got in to a brief period of about 20 mins of sunny conditions!

"What a wonderful sight it is. It is such a shame they cannot continue flying her!"

The Vulcan went on to the Welshpool Air & Transport Festival where Audlem resident Bill Consterdine was commentating and gave many fascinating details about the Vulcan as it performed over the area before it moved on to the Cosforth Air Show near Wolverhampton.

All round, the Vulcan had a busy afternoon.
