Sunday August 3 : Holmes Chapel CC . V . Audlem CC

Audlem had to hastily rearrange their Sunday fixture as Crewe Vagrants who were scheduled as the original opponents were unable to raise a team. Holmes Chapel came to the rescue as they found themselves in the same predicament as Hanford had cried off on them leaving them without a game.

Audlem were missing some of their regular players but were able to fill the gaps with quality replacements and fielded a good competitive 11 on the day

A 35 over game was agreed between the teams and skipper Jake Topping won the toss and decided to bat. Audlem got off to a flying start with Dave Blatherwick ( 43 ) and Will Hannam ( 20 ) adding 46 for the first wicket before an uncharacteristic mid innings collapse with only Dave Parkinson ( 13 ) & Richard Irvine ( 21 not out ) putting up any meaningful resistance as the last wicket fell in the 26th over with the score on 131.

With such a small total to defend Audlem's bowlers had little room for error and the two openers didn't disappoint with young Ruben Irvine bowling at good pace and maintaining an immaculate line and length to produce his best figures for the Sunday X1 with 7 overs and claiming 4 wickets and only conceding 19 runs. He was ably supported by the ever-reliable Conor Howard who completed his spell of 6 overs with figures of 1 for 21. The hosts were reduced to 11 for 4 in the early stages of the reply and later in proceedings 78 for 7 before the tail dug in and stabilized the situation somewhat. With the last pair at the wicket and still 16 runs needed the visitors were marginal favorites but a frustrating last wicket stand just saw them cross the line with only one ball to spare. The other wicket takers for Audlem were Nermit Singh, Richard Irvine and Dave Parkinson.

Next Sunday Audlem entertain the same opposition at The Gorse Croft with a 1.00pm start time
