Audlem Online has this morning, at last, received an acknowledgement from Royal Mail's HQ in London.

We wrote to the Chief Executive, Moya Greene on Wednesday 12th January asking for an immediate acknowledgement to test how long it took a letter to get to London and back by First Class post, followed by a full explanation of the disastrous performance of Royal Mail over the past few months.

The response is from Ben Ferguson, Consumer Solutions Specialist. It says:

Thank you for your letter dated 12 January, sent to Royal Mail Headquarters.

We have been asked to look into this matter and respond to you directly. The details of your enquiry have been recorded against the reference number above. (1 – 1689650744/CST)

We will now be conducting a full investigation in order to resolve this matter and will provide a written response to you within the next 14 working days.
Yours sincerely
Ben Ferguson
Consumer Solutions Specialist

The letter is dated 19th of January meaning it took Royal Mail a full week to simply acknowledge the letter and a further six days for its journey by First Class from the Mail's office to Audlem.

There is a post mark on the envelope which appears to be Plymouth so it seems to have travelled via the scenic route. More when we receive a further reply.

(Update) The arrival of the letter attracted interest from the BBC this morning who interviewed Audlem Online's editor in a live broadcast at about 11.00am.
