Is this a fraud/ scam or What ?

Ed: We recently received this from a local resident. It rang very true to the editor who had a similar experience when obtaining quotes for UPVC windows in Coole Lane.We CANNOT verify whether the name of the company is accurate but it is what the salesman was using.

Hi. I meant to send this warning a week or so ago but wanted to give Everest the opportunity to respond. But I have heard nothing.
A couple of weeks ago an "Everest sales man" knocked on the door and offered a quote for new driveway. A new driveway is on my to-do list so I said yes and he came back the next day at the allotted time, fitting me in between other quotes he was doing in the village.
I was surprised that Everest do driveways but a quick look on the Everest website confirmed the fact.
We measured up. 65m2 brick blocks, excavation to remove the existing tarmac. I was mortified at the price, £17,000. I fell off my chair. Once I got up I laughed out some expletives!
I advised I had an expected amount in mind based on a neighbour who had recently done his drive in a similar fashion, though mine is smaller and flatter. I advised I expected it to be £7,000 tops.
To my shock and horror the chap said OK we'll do it for £7,000!
He was clearly taking a chance and quoted me an outrageous price in the first instance.
Everest will NOT be doing my drive. I have written an email of complaint via their website but as yet haven't heard back.
I however fear most for my fellow Audlem residents that he also visited and has given quotes to who may have more spare cash than me, but aren't so aware of how much a job should cost.
