Help needed in running Audlem Festival

The committee for the four-day Music & Arts Festival in May met this week. The plans for this very popular event involve all three pubs, the Public Hall and other village venues in presenting over 26 bands. They will be playing a wide range of music plus there are various arts workshops, children's theatre, artists' exhibitions etc – a great weekend and most events are free.

The Festival committee is but four in number and the work load ahead is considerable. The pubs have been contacted seeking their input with regard to the bands required. The next step is to seek sponsorship of the event which costs in the order of £8000 to £9000.

The committee has to report that, sadly, this may well be the very last Music & Arts Festival as the main architect of it, Paul Moran, has a new post and will be moving on in the early summer. So unless the committee can find a person to take on the task of orchestrating the selection of Artistes etc, this year's will be the seventh and final Festival.

As it is, two persons are needed to assist in the logistics of this year's four day event. Paul will be running the show but will perforce be late here in Audlem as his work place is now Manchester. Please contact Ralph Warburton on 01270 812125 if you would like to get involved.
