Help at hand to cope with caring role

Book a place on one of Alzheimer's Society Cheshire East's popular CrISP courses – we are rolling out another set of Carers Information and Support Programmes, (CrISP), at four locations in Cheshire East, including Nantwich.

These are practical courses that can help carers get to grips with their difficult roles and help them devise coping strategies.

Carers and people with dementia who have the information they need feel supported and empowered to cope with their roles and better able to access peer support and manage their own health.

The courses are led by trained Alzheimer's Society staff in a group setting where people are able to share their experiences as well as find out about other services available to them.

There are two programmes, both run over four weeks; CrISP 1 for those carers whose loved one has received a recent diagnosis and CrISP 2 for those caring for someone whose dementia is more progressed.

Our latest CrISP programme has been put in place thanks to funding from Cheshire East Council.

Alzheimer's Society Cheshire and St Helens operations manager Jo Hawkins said: "Our Carers Information & Support Programme starts in October at a number of venues across Cheshire East. These specialist courses for carers of people with any type of dementia provide a wide range of background information, coping strategies, looking after yourself and planning for the future. Carers also get to meet others in a similar situation and build supportive friendships in a safe environment. If you are interested in coming along please get in touch with our local offices."

The Nantwich courses take place at Brookfield Hall, Shrewbridge Road, Nantwich CW5 7AD.

CriSP 1 courses are on February 22, February 29th, March 7th and March 14th 2016 from 1.30pm to 4pm.
